Goalie Start: Anderson starts for the Senators. dailyfaceoff.com Thu 10/17/13 2:56 PM
Anderson allowed three goals on 37 shots in a 4-3 overtime win vs. Phoenix on Tuesday. It was a nice bounce back for Anderson after being yanked in his previous outing. He has a great matchup against the winless Devils tonight.
THE GOALIE EDGE: 10/17/2013 primepucks.com Thu 10/17/13 1:50 PM
A lot of games on the docket tonight with some very interesting matchups. The Vancouver Canucks visit Buffalo to take on Ryan Miller and the Sabres. Miller finally got his first win the other night and has been playing well in net but is up against a formidable opponent in Roberto Luongo and the Canucks. The ‘Nucks should take this one....Tim Thomas returns to the net for Florida but will be facing his former team, the Boston Bruins. Be sure that he will give his best efforts as the B's have been struggling offensively lately. Perhaps the Bruins will use this as incentive to break out of their early season slump....Two hot goaltenders squaring up against one another as Josh Harding will face Ben Bishop in Tampa. The Wild's defense could stymie the Bolts' offense especially if Martin St. Louis misses the game. Wild upset in the making....Evgeni Nabokov and the Islanders take on the Edmonton Oilers pitting two up-and-coming offensive teams against one another. The Oilers goaltending has looked really suspect of late but Devan Dubnyk will get the nod after sitting out both ends of back-to-back games. Tough one to call as his confidence is really shot or he will come out with his best effort to prove critics wrong....Carey Price is coming off a shutout of the Jets and now will take on Sergei Bobrovsky and the Blue Jackets. Columbus will be a good test for Price as he needs to put a string of good showings together for Montreal....Can Jaroslav Halak bounce back from his tough loss against the San Jose Sharks the other night? He will be up against Corey Crawford and the Chicago Blackhawks. Another tough matchup for the Blues starter....In the Battle of Pennsylvania, Steve Mason and the Philadelphia Flyers look to right the ship after 3 straight losses. Marc-Andre Fleury meanwhile has been perfect to start the season, quieting all those playoff performance critics for the time being. Look for Fleury to stay perfect as Mason will suffer another tough luck loss....A true test for the 6-0 Colorado Avalanche as Semyon Varlamov takes on Jonas Gustavsson and the Detroit Red Wings.... San Jose should have an easy one in Dallas with Dan Ellis starting for the Stars. These games usually spell letdown, but I don't see it here....New Jersey, still looking for their first win of the season, turn to Martin Brodeur. He will be pitted up against Craig Anderson and the Ottawa Senators who look to build off their road win in Phoenix...Two elite goaltenders likely...
Goalie Start: Craig Anderson gets the start for the Senators. dailyfaceoff.com Tue 10/15/13 7:56 PM
Anderson was yanked from his last start after allowing two goals on nine shots just 4:06 into the first period. Ottawa was dominated all night so it wasn't really Anderson's fault. He will face the 4-2-0 Coyotes tonight.
DAILY PRIME - OCTOBER 14, 2013: KANE POWERS THE JET'S "O" primepucks.com Mon 10/14/13 8:06 AM
Evander Kane's budding fantasy potential was on full display last night, as the 22-year old scored two goals and registered 8 shots on goal in Winnipeg's 3-0 victory over New Jersey. Fantasy owners tend to underrate the lesser known "Kane" because he plays on the second line for the Jets, but coach Claude Noel has greatly upgraded his supporting cast with the acquisition of Devin Setoguchi and shifting the youngster Mark Scheifele to wing. Also, Kane has been getting similar power-play time to the top unit, meaning that he will have ample opportunities to continue scoring at a point-per-game pace. A huge breakout season could be looming for Kane, so pay special attention to the talented forward.
Other Fantasy Game Notes: A great night for several back-up netminders as Max Montoya and Ben Scrivens shined for their respective teams, Winnipeg and Los Angeles. After replacing an ineffective Craig Anderson in goal, Robin Lehner was superb in defeat for Ottawa after stopping 45 of 47 shots. Unfortunately, all three hold minimal fantasy value unless injuries to the starters take place... Since we are on the topic of goalies, Carolina's Cam Ward should get a full workload in the crease this upcoming week, as Anton Khudobin left yesterday's game with an injury... Young Anaheim defenseman Hampus Lindholm scored his first two career NHL points, both assists in Anaheim's 4-1 win over Ottawa. The overall 6th '12 NHL Draft selection is oozing with offensive potential, but has been relegated to secondary power-play duty in the early going. However, keep an eye on him as he could move up quickly if Cam Fowler continues to come up short in the scoring department... Jonas Hiller's fantasy stock keeps rising with another dominating performance in goal last night, a 30-save winning effort over Ottawa. Start him with confidence, as he seems to have created some separation between him and Viktor Fasth in the Duck's goaltending competition... Carolina's Jeff Skinner is off to a great start with his second goal of the season and 7 points in 6 games overall. Stay healthy, young man!

Goalie Start: Anderson will start for the Senators. dailyfaceoff.com Sat 10/5/13 2:56 PM
After a strong season last year, Anderson picked up right where he left off. He and Ryan Miller had a fantastic goalie battle last night with Anderson coming out on top. He stopped all 35 shots that he faced for his first shutout of the year. He will face the Maple Leafs tonight, who he has 0-2-0 with a 3.01 GAA and .880 SV% against last season.
DAILY PRIME OCTOBER 5, 2013: CRAIG ANDERSON LOOKS PRIMED FOR A BIG ... primepucks.com Sat 10/5/13 9:51 AM
Senators' goalie Craig Anderson looks poised to have a good season as he shutout the Sabres last night with 35 saves. Anderson was terrific all night long, positioning himself perfectly and not giving up too many rebounds. Anderson had an amazing 1.69 goals against average in the regular season and a great .941 save percentage, although it was in only 24 games. At 32 years old he should be in his goaltending prime. Expect him to have a big year, and he is a solid number one fantasy goalie. Defenseman Erik Karlsson scored the game winner for Ottawa with only over a minute left in the game. We view Karlsson as the premier fantasy defenseman in the NHL. Buffalo goaltender Ryan Miller was the subject of numerous trade rumors during the offseason, but has remained with the Sabres. He was simply outstanding last night as well with 45 saves. Buffalo should struggle to score goals this year, but this is a promising start for Miller to get back to the player he was a few years ago.
Which Kane Are We Talking About?: In the Bible it states that "Cain slew Able and went off to the land of Nod east of Eden". Well Evander Kane was the slewer last night, as he had a goal and two assists in Winnipeg's victory over the Los Angeles Kings. At this point we have to wonder which Kane is the better fantasy option, Patrick or Evander. Both are looking like top fantasy forward picks. But Patrick is a well established star while many fantasy players may not be aware of Evander's potential. This guy is only 22 years old, but he has been in the NHL for four years. He could have a real breakout year this season. Don't forget about him.
Other Fantasy Game Notes: Rookie forward Nathan MacKinnon continues to impress the Colorado management. The 18 year old has 3 assists in the first two games, and he is playing on a line with P.A. Parenteau and Jamie McGinn. He is getting top quality ice time as evidenced by his 4:42 minutes on the power play. He may hit a wall later in the season, but the kid looks like a great keeper...Pekka Rinne continues to struggle in net for Nashville as he allowed 3 goals last night to Colorado. At least he lasted the whole game and had 33 saves. The Predators offense looks mediocre at best, so Rinne could struggle for wins this year...Michael Grabner had a big night for the New York Islanders as he had two goals and an assist in last night's win over the Devils. Grabner has tremendous speed, and he once scored 34 goals in the NHL, but he is ...
