Crawford will undergo an appendectomy Saturday and is out indefinitely.
EDGE Analysis
Crawford was supposed to start Saturday against the Flyers, but was diagnosed with acute appendicitis by head-team physician Dr. Michael Terry before puck drop. A more definitive timetable for the Canadian netminder's return to action will likely be established in the coming days. Scott Darling will shoulder the load in goal for the Blackhawks while Crawford is in recovery mode.

Crawford returns to the crease after getting the night off in Los Angeles on Saturday. The 31-year-old is sitting with a 10-6-2 record that includes a pair of shutouts and a 2.31 GAA and is tied for seventh in the NHL for wins this year. A workhorse goalkeeper, fantasy owners will not find many better options in net than Crawford, especially against the offensively challenged Panthers.

Crawford will guard the cage in Friday's road game against the Ducks, Mark Lazerus of the Chicago Sun-Times reports.
EDGE Analysis
Crawford played well in his last outing Wednesday against the Sharks, stopping 33 of 35 shots, but didn't get enough help from his teammates to pick up his 10th win of the season, as the Blackhawks ultimately fell to San Jose by a score of 2-1. The 31-year-old netminder will look to get back on track in a tough road matchup with a Ducks team averaging 3.10 goals per game at home this season, 10th in the NHL.

Crawford turned away 33 of 35 shots on the road against the Sharks on Wednesday, but ended up losing, 2-1.
EDGE Analysis
Crawford and company struggled on special teams, as Team Teal collected a power-play tally and a shorty. Of course, it didn't help any that the Blackhawks afforded the Sharks four power-play opportunities, were out-hit 13-to-34, and only managed six blocked shots compared to 17 for San Jose. While this was not the outcome Crawford wanted, it definitely was an improvement over his performance against the Oilers on Monday, when he surrendered five goals on 27 shots.
