Corey Crawford turned in 20 saves in his first start in more than two weeks as the Chicago Blackhawks trounced the Montreal Canadiens 5-1 Wednesday night.
Crawford hadn't played since being pulled early in the second period of a 4-3 shootout loss to Phoenix on Dec. 5 after allowing three goals on 16 shots. Backup Ray Emery finished that game, then made six consecutive starts and won five straight before losing 3-2 to the Pittsburgh Penguins Tuesday night.

Corey Crawford is the probable starter on Wednesday.
Ray Emery stopped 25 of 28 shots in a 3-2 loss to Pittsburgh on Tuesday to end his five-game winning streak. Crawford has struggled this season and hasn't started since December 5th as a result, so this game will be critical for him. If he has a solid start, he will be well on his way to reclaiming the starting job. If he loses in a blowout, it will just deepen the goaltending controversy.

Although Corey Crawford has struggled recently and Ray Emery will start on Thursday, Blackhawks coach Joel Quenneville doesn't think his team is in the midst of a goaltending controversy.
"I don't call this a goalie controversy at all," Quenneville said. "If you look at all the teams in the league, every goalie who wasn't a starter gets a chance to get a couple of games in a row and sometimes even more. In the course of the season you're going to see some things where the other guy gets multiple starts." We agree with Quenneville and expect Crawford to rebound. That being said, Emery is a much better goaltender than his 2.93 GAA and .890 save percentage would imply.

Corey Crawford surrendered 3 goals on just 16 shots in a 4-3 loss to Phoenix Monday night.
Despite falling behind 3-0 early in the hockey game, Chicago rallied to force a shootout. The turning point for Chicago on Monday night was the decision to pull Corey Crawford. The goaltending change seemed to ignite the Blackhawks' offence.

Corey Crawford is projected to start on Monday against Phoenix.
Crawford has allowed four or more goals in three of his last four starts. His great start to the season has been spoiled by a subpar November, but we think that Crawford will bounce back.

Corey Crawford will be back in goal on Friday when his Chicago Blackhawks take on the New York Islanders.
Crawford was pulled on Tuesday after giving up four goals to the Phoenix Coyotes. He will get a chance to redeem himself on Friday. He has been less than stellar this season with a 2.86 GAA and a .898 save percentage. His 11-7-2 record has been fine. He is an average second goalie in deeper pools at this time if you play multiple goaltending categories.

The Chicago Blackhawks yanked Corey Crawford out after he allowed four Phoenix Coyotes goals.
Ray Emery took his place about five minutes into the third period. Crawford was coming off a great performance against the Los Angeles Kings, but this will be a night he would like to forget. This is the first time Crawford has been pulled in 2011-12.

Corey Crawford will be between the pipes on Tuesday when Chicago play the Coyotes in the Windy City.
The Blackhawks have spent a lot of time on the road of late and will now play 18 of their next 24 at home. Crawford will get the start Tuesday. He is not having a great fantasy season despite an 11-6-2 record as his peripherals leave a lot to be desired as his GAA is at 2.77 with a .902 save percentage.

Corey Crawford kicked away 26 shots in the Chicago Blackhawks' 2-1 win versus the Los Angeles Kings on Saturday night.
Crawford wasn't overly tested, but did make 10 saves in the final frame when his team struggled to create chances on the other end. This was a nice performance after giving up five goals in his win against the Anaheim Ducks on Friday, but the netminder has still been a bit up and down this season. He now has 11 wins and a .902 save percentage and 2.77 goals-against average, so it'd be encouraging to see this as the start of some consistency for the 26-year-old.

Corey Crawford kicked out 23 of 28 shots in a 6-5 win Friday afternoon.
Crawford may have won the game, but he's now allowed three or more goals in six of his last eight starts. Crawford allowed three goals on 12 shots in the first period and a goal in each of the second and third periods.
