Murphy was scratched from Tuesday's game against the Blues due to an illness, Sarah McLellan of the Arizona Republic reports. The Coyotes didn't hold a morning skate Tuesday, so Murphy's unavailability for the game wasn't apparent until warmups. He's considered day-to-day at this time, making it possible that he returns to the lineup Friday for the Sharks. Chris Summers will substitute in for him Tuesday.

Murphy netted a first-period goal, blocked four shots and supplied three hits in his 18:59 of ice time Tuesday against the Flyers. With his father, Gord, looking on as an assistant coach on the opposing bench, Murphy aided the Coyotes to an early 1-0 lead with his third marker of the season. The 2011 first-rounder has just six points in 42 games this season, but with the Coyotes in rebuild mode, Murphy should continue to hold down a regular role in an attempt to pick up NHL experience.

Murphy put a stop to his 11-game point drought Tuesday, notching an assist and going plus-4 with two PIM in a win over Edmonton. The few fantasy owners rolling Gormley out in their lineups surely appreciated that plus-4, which eliminated nearly half his deficit, but his offensive production has been sparse at best; he owns all of five points in 29 games on the year.

Murphy was a healthy scratch Saturday for the Coyotes, sitting out their game against the Wild. He has been working his way back from an upper body injury and missed two games earlier this month. Murphy was on the ice for two goals in the first period against the Predators on Thursday night and only saw five shifts in the rest of the game. The Coyotes are struggling right now and are looking for anything to turn their run around. Murphy may be back in the lineup for the next game, but there are few guarantees for anyone on the team right now.

Murphy will be available for Saturday's game against the Bruins, Sarah McLellan of the Arizona Republic reports. Murphy was scratched for the Coyotes' previous two games, but he's been skating since Thursday and it sounds like he was able to get in a practice Friday. The young blueliner has four points and a minus-6 rating over 25 games.

Murphy (upper body) won't play Thursday against the Kings. Murphy was skating as an extra during the Coyotes' morning session, so a return wouldn't seem all that far off. Coach Dave Tippett suggested that there was a chance that Murphy could play Saturday versus the Bruins.

Murphy (upper body) was scratched for Tuesday's game against the Flames, Sarah McLellan of the Arizona Republic reports. With a short turnaround after he left Monday's game with an injury, Murphy didn't have enough time to regain full health. The Coyotes haven't provided much word on the extent of the injury, so he'll retain the day-to-day label in advance of Thursday's game with the Kings until more information is known.

Murphy (upper body) will be a game-time decision Tuesday against the Flames, Todd Walsh of FOX Sports Arizona reports. Murphy missed the final two periods of Monday's victory over the Oilers with the injury, and with the Coyotes bypassing their morning skate Tuesday, the team won't have a proper assessment of his health until pregame warmups. Chris Summers would slot in on the Coyotes' third pairing if Murphy can't play.

Murphy will not return to Monday's game against the Oilers after suffering an upper-body injury. It's still undetermined how severe Murphy's injury actually is, although he should be considered day-to-day until further news is released from the Coyotes. Unfortunately for Murphy, Arizona plays the second leg of a back-to-back against the Flames on Tuesday, so he'll need to make a quick recovery to avoid missing anymore time off the ice.
