Dating back to Feb. 16, the Canadian has registered a point in eight straight games, and has 14 points in that span. McDavid is easily on pace for a third-straight 100 point season, and could top his career-high of 108 points this campaign.

Many of McDavid's strong efforts have gone to waste this season, but that hasn't been the case of late, with the Oilers winning five of these seven most recent games. He's chipped in 12 points during this strong stretch. There have been only eight games this season in which McDavid has played and failed to mark the scoresheet, so he's about as automatic as it gets.

The first of his helpers came on Leon Draisaitl's shorthanded goal early in the game. Over his last six appearances, McDavid has 10 points (two goals, eight assists). While Draisaitl has been the hotter of the two recently, McDavid has done his fair share to contribute as well. McDavid has 33 goals and 92 points in 62 games and is closing in on his third-straight 60-assist season.

He's formed a potent 1-2 punch on the Oilers' top line with Leon Draisaitl, even if the rest of the roster hasn't exactly held up their end.

Oilers coach Ken Hitchcock noted before the Oilers-Leafs game that McDavid was ticked off -- he actually used more colorful language -- about the suspension that stemmed from the star pivot's illegal check to the head of the Islanders' Nick Leddy in a road game last Thursday. Fantasy owners probably expected more than a single point from McDavid since he was evidently determined to take out his suspension-related frustration in a marquee matchup with Auston Matthews and the Maple Leafs, but then again, this was a big letdown by the entire Edmonton team.

McDavid has fully served his two-game suspension, making him eligible to return Wednesday against host Toronto.

Arguably the league's top player returns just in time for a marquee matchup opposing another phenom in Auston Matthews and his Leafs team that currently sits in third place within the Atlantic Division. Edmonton went 1-1 without McDavid during his two-game ban, eking out a narrow victory over the Ducks but coming up short against the Predators in Nashville on Monday. McDavid currently has 85 points (32 goals, 53 assists) to complement a career-high 28 power-play points through 58 games.
