Stoner (undisclosed) will join the Vegas Golden Knights' youth system as coach of their 12AA team, ending his professional career.
EDGE Analysis
Stoner spent the 2017-18 campaign on long-term injured reserve due to an undisclosed injury and hasn't played since. The defenseman spent eight seasons in the NHL with the Wild and Ducks, appearing in 360 games and tallying seven goals, 41 assists and 659 hits along the way.

Stoner was placed on injured reserve Tuesday due to an undisclosed injury.
EDGE Analysis
Stoner had not been practicing the last few days, but the move to IR still comes as something of a surprise and the stay-at-home defenseman will miss at least the Golden Knight's first two games as a franchise. Regardless, Stoner is not considered much of a fantasy asset, having never exceeded 10 points in any of his eight NHL seasons.

Stoner has been selected by the Vegas Golden Knights in the NHL Expansion Draft, TSN's Bob McKenzie reports.
EDGE Analysis
Paying Stoner $3.25 million for this coming season is far from ideal, but the willingness to accept his contract allowed Vegas to net highly regarded defenseman Shea Theodore from the Ducks as well. Stoner played just 14 games for Anaheim the past year due to an abdominal injury. Even if he is heathy this coming year, Stoner is nothing more than a depth defenseman at this point in his career.

Stoner (abdomen) is available to play in the Western Conference Finals against Nashville, per GM Bob Murray.
EDGE Analysis
Following the news that Stoner took the ice for warmups prior to Wednesday's Game 7 win against the Oilers, per Elliott Teaford of the Southern California News Group, his availability for the next series seemed to be the next logical step. However, just because the 32-year-old has been cleared to play, it's not guaranteed that he will immediately step back into his normal role, considering he hasn't seen game action since Nov. 15 and the Ducks may want to ease him back in.

Stoner (abdomen) served as a scratch for Sunday's Game 6 against the Oilers.
EDGE Analysis
There's been no indication given so far that Stoner might be close to a return, so don't expect to see him back until there's a bit more clarity on his status. Shea Theodore will likely continue to see game action with Stoner sidelined.

Stoner (abdomen) wasn't listed among the defensive pairings for Game 5 against the Oilers on Friday, per Eric Stephens of the Orange County Register.
EDGE Analysis
The imposing blueliner is no longer showing on injured reserve, but the Ducks aren't about to throw a guy who hasn't played since Nov. 17 into the lineup, especially since Brandon Montour playing so well -- the rookie has collected three points and a plus-7 rating in these conference semifinals.

Stoner (abdomen) is no longer listed on injured reserve, per the NHL's official media site.
EDGE Analysis
While this is certainly an intriguing development for Stoner's potential return, it's worth noting that he has not returned to the ice in any fashion and fellow defenseman Simon Despres (head) was taken off injured reserve in the middle of April and still has not returned to action. Therefore, there's no guarantee that Stoner's return is imminent and he should not be counted for Friday's Game 5 at the moment.

Stoner (abdomen) is projected to be scratched from Friday's Game 2 semifinal contest against the Oilers, NHL.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
The brawny defenseman remains the lone Duck on injured reserve, so unless Sami Vatanen (upper body) gets the green light to play, Korbinian Holzer could continue getting some rink-run in these conference semifinals. Still, that's too many variables to worry about when it comes to Stoner. Look elsewhere for a blueliner in playoff pools.

Stoner (abdomen) has not been activated off injured reserve, per the NHL media site.
EDGE Analysis
Despite reports that Stoner was available for Game 1, he remains on injured reserve for the time being. With Sami Vatanen (upper body) still not 100 percent and Kevin Bieksa (lower body) doubtful for Friday's contest, the Ducks could really use some good news on Stoner. In the event none of the injured defenders are able to give it a go, Korbinian Holzer will likely slot back into the lineup against the Oilers.

Coach Randy Carlyle indicated Wednesday the Stoner (abdomen) and all other defensemen for the Ducks are healthy and available for the evening's Game 1 against the Oilers, but Stoner is expected to serve as a healthy scratch, NHL.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Stoner has played in just 14 games for the Ducks this season, but appears to be finally healthy for the club's playoff run. Despite his return, Anaheim isn't expected to utilize his services this early in the postseason. The veteran's next chance at rejoining the lineup would come in Game 2, but it wouldn't be surprising if he remains in the press box.
