Wideman had two assists and one hit over 11:46 of ice time in Saturday's 6-3 win over Nashville.
EDGE Analysis
After amassing four points in four games, Wideman was made a healthy scratch Thursday, so that the Canadiens could get a look at Mattias Norlinder on the blue line. Montreal head coach Dominique Ducharme, desperate for offense, made an inspired decision and inserted the puck-moving defenseman at forward on the fourth line in place of Michael Pezzetta. The move paid immediate dividends, as Wideman helped on both of Ryan Poehling's goals. Wideman has eight points, 21 shots, 14 hits, nine blocked shots and 22 PIM over 15 games.

Wideman was not in the active lineup for Thursday's 6-0 loss to the Penguins.
EDGE Analysis
Wideman has provided offense from the blue line with two goals and six points through 14 games, but he was given a seat in the press box so that Mattias Norlinder could make his NHL debut. Head coach Dominique Ducharme suggested to Arpon Basu of The Athletic that Norlinder and Wideman are similar players, which may be the reason the coach sat Wideman.

After the ensuing faceoff, the Rangers cleared the puck to the neutral zone, where Wideman quickly forwarded it and set up the sequence that led to Josh Anderson's goal. It was the sixth point for Wideman, who leads the Canadiens' blueliners, and his fourth point in the last four games.

Wideman had a power-play assist in Thursday's 4-2 win over the Flames.
EDGE Analysis
Wideman's blast from the point clanged off a post and landed behind Jacob Markstrom when Brendan Gallagher batted it home for Montreal's game-tying goal in the second period. Wideman, who had been a healthy scratch for four consecutive contests at the end of October, has played all six games since and averaged 3:30 with the man advantage. He has two power-play assists and three total points over 11 games.

Wideman scored a goal and provided three shots in Thursday's 5-1 loss to the Sabres.
EDGE Analysis
After spending the last few seasons with stints in the AHL and KHL, Wideman scored his first goal since the 2018-19 season and put the Habs within one in the second period. Although the team wasn't able to make much out of the goal, the 31-year-old also had three shots, one block and two PIM on the night. Wideman led the KHL in points last season but shouldn't be expected to produce anything beyond a 20-point season.
