VandeVelde received just 13 shifts and 7:00 of ice time against the Ducks on Thursday.
EDGE Analysis
The fourth-line forward failed to even register a shot on net Thursday, and after scoring 14 points and averaging 13:33 per night last year, VandeVelde appears locked into an even smaller role to start 2016-17. Philadelphia did have seven power-play opportunities, which cut into VandeVelde's ice time, but it also reinforces how limited his offensive chances are likely to be.

VandeVelde collected an assist in Thursday's 4-3 overtime loss to Toronto.
EDGE Analysis
It's his first point since March 15. VandeVelde has struggled to find decent ice time this season, and that's resulted in just 14 points in 77 games. He's got two more games to adjust his stat line. He'll face the Penguins Saturday and suit up against the Islanders on Sunday.

Vandevelde has been scratched and thus will not play Tuesday against Columbus.
EDGE Analysis
Vandevelde is now eligible to return from a two-game suspension he served for his hit on the Blackhawks' Jonathan Toews. The 29-year-old center hasn't been much of a fantasy force this season, notching just 13 points in 69 contests.

Vandevelde has received a two-game suspension for his hit on the Blackhawks' Jonathan Toews, Tim Panaccio of CSN Philadelphia reports.
EDGE Analysis
VandeVelde could appeal the two-game ban, but if it holds as is, his next chance to return would come next Tuesday against the Blue Jackets. While the Flyers may miss his physical presence, the 29-year-old forward's absence shouldn't have much of an impact in fantasy circles.

VandeVelde grabbed his first point in nine games with an empty-net assist in Tuesday's 4-2 win over Montreal.
EDGE Analysis
He added two PIM in just under 13 minutes of ice time. The fourth-liner has started off the right way after the All-Star pause, though with just eight points in 48 games, we'd be Pinocchio if we said this pace will continue.

VandeVelde scored a goal and added an assist in Monday's 4-3 win over St. Louis.
EDGE Analysis
VandeVelde effectively increased his point total by 50 percent in this one, as he's now got six points in 34 games this year. With just eight PIM, 42 shots on goal and a minus-4 rating, his value lies solely with his grinder-role with the Flyers and isn't likely to enter the fantasy conversation any time soon.

VandeVelde collected his second assist of the season in Thursday's 5-2 loss to the Capitals.
EDGE Analysis
He's off to a quiet start, with just three points on the season, though not much is expected of the fourth-line winger. With his team struggling to find any offense, VandeVelde has meager value even in the deepest of leagues.

VandeVelde re-signed with the Flyers on Monday, agreeing to a two-year, $1.425 million contract, Frank Seravalli of TSN reports. The Flyers' trade earlier Monday of Zac Rinaldo to the Bruins was likely made for the purpose of opening up cap room for VandeVelde, who tallied a career-high nine goals and 15 points in 70 games last season. Though he doesn't have the mean streak of Rinaldo, VandeVelde brings more offense to the club's fourth line, and still managed to pile up 121 hits a season ago. VandeVelde should mesh well with new Flyers coach Dave Hakstol, for whom he played under during his collegiate days at the University of North Dakota.

VandeVelde scored on his lone shot attempt in Saturday's loss to the Bruins. VandeVelde went a little over a month between goals, which isn't overly surprising given his status as a fourth-line player. He'll struggle to maintain much fantasy relevance while averaging only 13 minutes per game.

VandeVelde scored his fifth goal in seven games in Thursday's shootout loss to the Islanders. VandeVelde's goal on Thursday was filthy, as he put a perfectly placed shot over the glove of Isles' goaltender Jaroslav Halak. While he plays on the fourth line and sees no power-play time, VandeVelde has a great shot, meaning he could continue to find twine at a decent pace. Skating with former 100-point-getter Vincent Lecavalier, VandeVelde is worth looking at in the deepest of leagues.
