Brian Sutherby will attend the training camp of Winnipeg's minor-league affiliate, the St. John's IceCaps, on a pro tryout offer. He skated in just 15 AHL contests last season with San Antonio because of a back injury that required surgery. Sutherby has picked up 90 points and 533 penalty minutes in 460 career NHL contests.

Brian Sutherby (back) is practicing with some Nashville players as he hopes to make a comeback to the NHL. Sutherby last played in the NHL in March, 2011 as he then underwent back surgery. He played 15 games in the AHL last season before shutting it down as he was not 100 percent. While he will consider playing in Europe, it is a lot tougher these days as several NHL players are overseas due to the lockout. Sutherby nows lives in the Nashville area with his wife and child.

Brian Sutherby is healthier and he wants to play somewhere, even if it isn't in the NHL. He didn't play any games at the NHL level last season and missed the majority of the year because of back surgery. In 15 games with the San Antonio Rampage on a pro tryout, he posted four points and 18 penalty minutes. "I've rehabbed and now I'm back to work (on the ice, at the 3-on-3 Perry Pearn pro camp and in the gym)," said Sutherby. "I'm going to play somewhere. I have thought of Europe, but it's been a long road and I don't want to give up on it (NHL). If I'm healthy and 100 percent I can still play (NHL)." He could latch on somewhere as a fourth-line player, but even if he does he doesn't have any fantasy value.
