Kunitz (lower body) took to the ice for the Penguins' practice Sunday sporting a non-contact uniform. He indicated after practice that he "felt alright. No issues." but he remains without a clear timeline for a return, Wes Crosby of NHL.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Kunitz's injury has cost him all of April thus far, but he appears to be making some progress toward rejoining the lineup. He and the Penguins have some additional rest on tap leading into a second-round series against either the Capitals or Maple Leafs, but there's still no guarantee he will be ready for Game 1. The winger will need to graduate to full contact before talks of his return start heating up, so expect another update when Kunitz reaches that point in his recovery.

Coach Mike Sullivan indicated Sunday that "Kunitz is going to be longer-term with a lower-body injury."
EDGE Analysis
It's an unfortunate turn of events for the Penguins, who could be without a key piece for part of the postseason depending on how long he's sidelined. Kunitz remains without a definite timetable at this point, but more information on that should surface when he's able to begin his rehab.

Kunitz will not play Sunday due to a lower-body injury.
EDGE Analysis
Coach Mike Sullivan added that the winger has no timetable for a return. Kunitz leads the team in hits with 216 but hasn't scored a goal since Feb. 16, a span of 21 games.

Kunitz was aggressive in Friday's 6-4 home win over the Devils, doling out two PIM and six hits.
EDGE Analysis
A loyalist to the Penguins having been with the club since 2009-10, Kunitz has only cracked the box score once in nine March contests, though he's done a fine job knocking opponents off the puck with back-to-back outings of six body checks. He has 28 points in 64 games and needs to go on an absolute tear to match the 40 combined goals and assists he had in each of the past two seasons, but the slide in scoring makes sense given that he's receiving the least amount of ice time (15:13) he's ever had with Pittsburgh.

Kunitz scored his ninth goal of the season in Thursday's win over Winnipeg.
EDGE Analysis
The left winger is rekindling his youth skating next to Sidney Crosby -- he's netted three goals in the last five games. It's fitting that Crosby recorded his 1000th point on Kunitz's goal, given that the two paired together for many years. Kunitz will likely reprise his role as a bottom-six winger when Conor Sheary (upper body) returns, but for now he's turning back the clock with Crosby.

Kunitz collected his seventh goal of the season and registered three hits Tuesday against the Flames.
EDGE Analysis
He's spending more and more time skating as Sidney Crosby's left winger. While he's lost some of his speed, the 37-year-old is intimately familiar with Crosby's game as a longtime linemate. Kunitz isn't the only option to skate with Crosby while Conor Sheary (upper body) mends, but he's looked surprisingly good in the last couple games.

Kunitz scored his second goal in three games Sunday against the Lightning.
EDGE Analysis
The 37-year-old isn't the 60-point man he was several seasons ago, but he still averages a half-point per game with 17 points (4G, 13A) in 33 tilts. He ranks second on Pittsburgh with 103 hits and three game-winning goals as his transition from Crosby linemate to third-line grinder has mostly gone smoothly.

Kunitz scored a third-period goal to snap a 15-game goalless drought during Wednesday's win over Carolina.
EDGE Analysis
The 37-year-old veteran has struggled to find the goals column this season with just three tallies through 31 games, but his 16 points keep him on pace to take a run at his third consecutive 40-point showing. Still, Kunitz is far past his prime, and expecting him to provide more than tertiary offensive numbers is likely ill-advised. There aren't many fantasy formats where he's anything more than a streamer or low-end option.

Kunitz collected two assists -- one on the power play -- as well as five shots and a plus-2 rating in Tuesday's 7-2 undressing of the Rangers.
EDGE Analysis
Over his first eight games since coming back from a lower-body injury, Kunitz had been patently awful, notching just one point, 12 shots and a minus-1 rating -- numbers that look particularly ugly in light of the Penguins' recent offensive success. That all changed Tuesday, but you still can't count on much from Kunitz, who owns 14 points in 27 games. His hits keep him in play in specialty formats, but his fantasy value in more standard leagues is pretty low even though he sees second-line ice time alongside Evgeni Malkin.

Kunitz (lower body) took the ice for pregame warmups and will play Saturday against the Red Wings.
EDGE Analysis
Kunitz missed the team's last six games as he nursed an ailment to his lower body but it appears he's set to return to NHL action. The 37-year-old left winger tallied nine points in the 11 games prior to his injury. He'll join a line with Evgeni Malkin and Phil Kessel against the Red Wings' 14th-ranked defense (2.54 GA/GP).
