Montreal will be happy to have Hudon back on the ice Saturday, as he was on a roll prior to his injury, notching one goal and four points in his last six games. The 23-year-old winger will return to a top-six role against Tampa Bay, skating with Alex Galchenyuk and Jacob De La Rose on the Canadiens' second line.

Coach Claude Julien relayed Friday that Hudon (hand) is doing better, but that a decision on his status for Saturday's contest against the Lightning won't come until game day.

Hudon has missed four straight tilts because of his hand issue, though it appears he's making significant progress toward a return. The 23-year-old winger hasn't disappointed in his first full season at the NHL level, collecting 24 points (eight goals, 16 assists) over 60 contests. While it's not a total that will stand out in many fantasy leagues, his extra playing time, presence on the power play and willingness to play physically (102 hits) could push him on to the fantasy radar in some formats.

Hudon will miss a fourth consecutive game Thursday, and the Canadiens have yet to release any information regarding a potential timetable for his return to the lineup. The 23-year-old winger has been a solid bottom-six contributor for Montreal this season, totaling eight goals and 24 points in 60 contests, but he lacks the offensive upside necessary to make him a desirable option in most season-long fantasy formats.

Hudon -- who will miss his third consecutive game -- notched four points in six outings prior to getting hurt and seemed to be playing some of his best hockey of the season. The Habs have not provided a timeline for the Quebec native's return to action, but with their season all but over, there is no reason to rush him back onto the ice. Montreal will likely continue to rotate its bottom-six forwards in order to fill in for Hudon.

Despite averaging less than 12 minutes of ice time per game, the rookie winger has compiled eight goals, 16 assists and seven power-play points this season, so Hudon's absence is not insignificant. However, since Montreal will soon be mathematically eliminated from playoff contention, there's no reason for coach Claude Julien to send the injured 23-year-old to game ice.

Hudon suffered a hand injury and will miss Friday's matchup with the Islanders.

EDGE Analysis

Despite a five-game goal drought, Hudon has been performing well, with three helpers, 11 shots and six blocks over that stretch. In addition, the youngster logged 14:55 of ice time per game in those contests, including 1:12 with the man advantage. Once cleared to return to action, the winger should retake his spot on the power play, giving him ample opportunity to end his goalless streak.

Hudon had an assist, three shots on net, one hit, two blocked shots and a two-minute minor penalty in Thursday's 3-1 win over the Rangers.

EDGE Analysis

It was a night of modest production, but it was enough to earn Hudon the game's No. 1 star. Perhaps the star was bestowed for the veteran poise he exhibited on a 3-on-1 break, when Hudon showed patience and perfectly fed Jeff Petry, who had pinched in from the right wing to score the game-winning goal. The 23-year-old Hudon has a three-game point streak and should be front-and-center over the final two months of the season as the organization pivots to the next season and allots ice time to its younger players.

Hudon scored his eighth goal of the season in Saturday's 6-3 loss to the Golden Knights.

EDGE Analysis

It was his first goal in February, snapping a seven-game point drought. Hudon continues to fill a top-six role for the Habs, but with only 21 points in 55 games on the season, the 23-year-old hasn't exactly been a fantasy asset in his first full NHL campaign.

Hudon scored a power-play goal in Tuesday's 3-1 loss to the Blues.

Hudon snapped a potential shutout with just over a minute to play, netting his seventh goal of the season and third on the power play. It was also his third marker in the last two games, giving us a glimpse of the scorer he was in the AHL. The 23-year-old forward has been a regular on the man advantage (1:38 PP TOI/G) and is fourth on the team in shots (127), but that proclivity for scoring he showed in the AHL hasn't been there thus far in his first extended look in the NHL.

Hudon scored two goals and added an assist in a 6-5 loss to Carolina on Thursday. He also fired six shots on net.

EDGE Analysis

Hudon hadn't found twine Dec. 2 -- a span of 18 games -- so it was nice to see him active on the scoresheet. He now has 19 points in 46 games in his first full NHL campaign and also makes decent contributions in the shot (124) and hit columns (83), making him a potentially serviceable fantasy asset in the deepest of settings.
