Brett Carson has signed with Swedish Hockey League club AIK. He appeared in 26 games with the Abbotsford Heat of the AHL last season and he suited up in 10 contests with the Calgary Flames. Carson has 90 games of NHL experience in his career.

The Calgary Flames have summoned Brett Carson. Mark Giordano won't be available on Friday because his wife is having a baby, so the Flames needed another defenseman. "It's obviously exciting," said Carson. "Hopefully, I get up here and get to play some minutes . . . and just prove to this team that they didn't make a mistake in signing me. Obviously it's a tough situation right now, but I'm going to come up here and do my best." Carson has 11 points and 16 penalty minutes in 26 AHL games this season.
