Gaunce was sent down to the minors Tuesday.
EDGE Analysis
Gaunce returns to the AHL where he has notched 15 goals and 18 helpers in 43 contests. That ability to write himself on the scoresheet was absent from his NHL performance as the center managed a lone goal in 20 games with the Canucks. Fans and fantasy owners alike will want to keep on eye on the 22-year-old's continued development during the Calder Cup playoffs.

Gaunce was recalled from AHL Utica on Tuesday.
EDGE Analysis
Gaunce had just been sent back down the day before, but Vancouver suffered a rash of injuries in Monday's tilt so he'll make his way back up. He's made little impact in six games at the NHL level this season, but he's posted an impressive 33 points through 43 games in the AHL.

Gaunce was reassigned to AHL Utica on Monday.
EDGE Analysis
Gaunce added very little in terms of fantasy value during his four-game recall, as he averaged a mere 10:41 of ice time and recorded eight hits and three blocked shots. The young center has performed significantly better in the minors this season where he has logged 33 points in 43 contests. The Canucks replaced Gaunce on the depth chart with Alexandre Grenier.

The Canucks recalled Gaunce from AHL Utica on Tuesday.
EDGE Analysis
Gaunce has been tearing it up with AHL Utica this season, as he leads all skaters in points (33) and goals (15) while also notching 18 assists in 43 games. The 21-year-old center has likely been called up to provide the Canucks an extra forward while Radim Vrbata recovers from an undisclosed injury. He could push for playing time on the Canucks' fourth forward line.

Gaunce was assigned to AHL Utica on Thursday.
EDGE Analysis
Gaunce drew into the Canucks' lineup on two occasions during his most recent stay with the big club, tallying a single goal and two shots on goal in those contests. The 21-year-old will head to AHL Utica to continue his 2015-16 campaign, but will likely get another opportunity with the Canucks later this season.

Gaunce will make his NHL debut Thursday against the Stars.
EDGE Analysis
Gaunce, who tallied 29 points (11 goals, 18 assists) in 74 games with AHL Utica last season, is expected to skate alongside Jared McCann and Derek Dorsett on the Canucks' fourth line in Thursday's tilt. His stay with the big club may be short lived, however, as Brandon Prust (ankle) could return to action as soon as Monday against Philadelphia.

The Canucks have recalled Gaunce from AHL Utica.
EDGE Analysis
Canucks forward Brandon Prust reportedly has an ankle injury that will cause him to miss the next two games, so Gaunce will presumably step in to try and fill the void. At this point, his name is most recognizable in the Junior leagues and the minors, where he posted two points and six PIMs with the Utica Comets through five games prior to the call-up.

Brendan Gaunce scored on Sunday after he was switched from center to the left wing. The Canuck prospects down the Edmonton Oiler prospects 4-2 on Sunday with Gaunce getting Vancouver started as his goal cut the Oilers lead in half at 2-1. Gaunce also chipped in with two assists. He had struggled early on as he was less than stellar in the Canucks first rookie game after a rather mediocre performance during Team Canada's U20 get-together in August in which coach Brent Sutter said that Gaunce was "a ways away from being a pro player". He has not been using his size and physicality and that has been an issue with Team Canada and early in camp. Gaunce projects to be a third line center with the chance to move up to the second line at a certain point in his career. He had 33 goals and 60 points in 60 games with Belleville of the OHL last season.

Canadian national junior coach Brent Sutter was not impressed with Vancouver Canucks prospect Brendan Gaunce during the national team's get-together last month. "He's a big guy and he's a ways away from being a pro player yet," Sutter said. "He's a very defensive-oriented guy as far as understanding the game. He knows his limits offensively, but he's a big power forward who's a decent skater and he's got some good skills. But I see him more as a third- or fourth-line player in the National Hockey League, more of a power guy." Gaunce's response: "Everyone has their opinions and he is obviously an established coach for the NHL and junior levels, and he knows what he's talking about. And if that's his opinion, that's his opinion, I can't change that. I think I'm pretty close. I mean, I want to see at camp and see day to day how I do, but I think I'm pretty close and I think I prepared this summer to be pretty close. That's not something I should probably comment on further because I'm not a coach and I don't want to comment on someone else's opinion."

Center Brendan Gaunce is a possibility to make the Vancouver Canucks next season, though the 19-year-old still has a year's junior elegibility remaining and has yet to attend an NHL training camp. Speaking about Gaunce, Vancouver general manager Mike Gillis said: "He's going to be given every opportunity to make our hockey team. He's really moved along. He's very responsible at the junior level. But he's a young player and when you start introducing young players into your lineup, people need to be patient. He and others are going to be given great opportunities and we'll see what they do with them." Gaunce is an intriguing prospect because he already has an NHL body - 6-foot-2, 215-pounds.
