Suspension: Orlov has been suspended two games for his hit on Brayd... dailyfaceoff.com Mon 3/3/14 7:56 PM

Orlov ran Schenn from behind in the corner of Sunday's OT loss to the Flyers. With Orlov out for the next two contests, the Caps have recalled Jack Hillen from his conditioning stint with Hershey (AHL).

Injury: Schenn (neck) will play tonight against the Blue Jackets. dailyfaceoff.com Thu 12/19/13 2:56 PM

Schenn suffered a neck injury when he was nailed from behind by Capitals' forward Tom Wilson on Tuesday. Schenn skated this morning and will be in the lineup tonight. He has four assists in his last six games and has a total of seven goals and 12 assists (19 points) in 34 games.

Injury: Flyers' B. Schenn injured, will be re-evaluated Wed. dailyfaceoff.com Wed 12/18/13 2:56 PM

We won't know any further updates on Schenn until later today. The hit looked painful, however, so if you are riding Schenn, you may want to look to the wire.

ROMIE HITS THE POST: THE RETURN OF BRYZGALOV primepucks.com Fri 11/29/13 6:54 PM

Well he has come back with a big bang as he shutout the Nashville Predators with a 33 save performance last night. Based on this start Ilya Bryzgalov will likely be the Oilers starter for a while, since Devan Dubnyk just can't cut the mustard in the NHL. Bryzgalov's history is very interesting because he played extremely well when he was in Phoenix playing for Dave Tippett.  Tippett is probably the best goaltender Coach in the NHL, and under him Bryzgalov in 2009-2010 went 42-20 with a 2.29 goals against and a .920 save percentage with 8 shutouts.  It was those type of numbers that convinced Philadephia General Manager Paul Holmgren to give  Bryzgalov a 9 year $51 million contract in 2011.  Holmgren thought that Bryzgalov would be the solution to the Flyers long term goalie problems.  Holmgren had to trade Jeff Carter to Columbus and Mike Richards to Los Angeles in order to free up the cap space to sign Bryzgalov for players like Jacob Voracek and young forward Brayden Schenn. Quite a couple of trades.  In his first year with Philadelphia he  was 33-16-7 with a 2.48 goals against and a .909 save percentage.  I drafted him that year expecting him to have a great season, but watching him game after game, he would always go down too soon rather than squaring up to the shooter, and he would get beat up top. Big mistake on my part.  The reality is that Bryzgalov's career save percentage is only .914, which means that he is only an average goaltender at best.  He may have suffered from his time in Philadelphia, with the crazy media exposure he was not ready to deal with.  He may be okay in Edmonton, but don't expect to much, and if you see him dropping to his knees too quickly, well you know what is going to happen.  He is not going back to Phoenix with Mike Smith there, but he is an okay second goaltender if you need one. Stick saves: While he plays for an offensively challenged Nashville team, young goaltender Marec Mazanec has really impressed me so far in 10 games played this season. The Czech is very quick and athletic and he has played great in Pekka Rinne's absence. While he lost last night, he still played great.  His 2.01 goals against and .934 save percentage after 10 games are very solid.  This kid is going to be a really top notch goalie in the NHL somewhere and some day.  When Rinne comes back he will likely go back to the bench, but he is going to be good one.  Don't forget about him.

ADD'EM: GET YOUR STARTING GOALIE! primepucks.com Mon 11/18/13 5:29 AM

Ben Scrivens-Los Angeles Kings, G (Owned in 67.4% of ESPN leagues) In place of the injured Jonathan Quick, the King's back-stopper shut out the Devils and Rangers, while allowing only two goals to the Isles. Three straight wins during a brutal East Coast swing for the Kings, so Scrivens has boosted his fantasy stock in a huge way. For all Quick fantasy owners, snag him immediately, but even if you don't own Quick- go get him! For the next 3-6 weeks, he could give you elite fantasy goalie value while playing for one of the upper-tier NHL teams. A no-brainer here. Brayden Schenn- Philadelphia Flyers, C (Owned in 42.1% of ESPN leagues) The Flyer's offense has been surging as of late, so it's time to get your hands on the talented 22-year old while he is in amidst a scoring streak (3G/2A in the last 5 games). True, he doesn't play on the top unit with Claude Giroux, but he has been flourishing on a line with Vincent Lecavalier. With 12 points in 19 games overall, Schenn remains under the radar, but he could provide sneaky production as a 5th or 6th forward option. Alex Burrows- Vancouver Canucks, LW (Owned in 64.9% of ESPN leagues) Ever since returning from a foot injury, the streaky winger has struggled to find his offensive groove with 3 points in 8 games. However, with reports that he will be placed back on the top line with the Sedin twins while Kesler has been shifted back to the second unit, we recommend that you consider taking a gamble on Burrows. He has enjoyed much success in this position before, but has been limited by lack of power-play time. The former 30-goal scorer is worth your look. Alex Goligoski- Dallas Stars, D (Owned in 44.3% of ESPN leagues) There has been definite signs of life from the slumping defenseman, who is coming off a 3-assist game but only had 2 goals and an assist in the previous 17 games. With veteran Sergei Gonchar failing to seize hold of the top power-play quarterback spot with an equally putrid offensive showing in the early going, coach Lindsey Ruff has given Goligoski top minutes after making him a healthy scratch. Considering how solid he was in '12-13 with 27 points in 47 games, don't hesitate to pick him up. This could be a perfect "buy-low" opportunity for a d-man capable of putting up 40+ points. Kevin Poulin- New York Islanders, G ( (Owned in 4.8% of ESPN leagues) With goaltender Evgeni Nabokov suffering a groin injury early in the first period on Saturday night for the Islanders, the 23-year old ...

DAILY PRIME - NOVEMBER 14, 2013: QUICK HURT, BACKSTROM TOO, EMERY S... primepucks.com Thu 11/14/13 7:37 AM

The Kings goaltender Jonathan Quick is out with a hamstring/groin issue. The Kings backup goaltender Ben Scrivens will get most of the starts until Quick returns. Scrivens has played in 5 games this year with a 1-1-1 record with a 1.89 goals against and a .924 save percentage.  His career numbers are mediocre at 12-15-3 with a 2.78 and .911, but he will be the starter now. Hardy Harding: Minnesota goaltender Niklas Backstrom was run over early by Toronto forward Nazem Kadri, and he was forced to leave the game. It looked serious and Backstrom may have a concussion.  His backup Josh Harding replaced him and he got the 2-1 shootout win with 19 saves. Harding will likely get a number of starts now until Backstrom can come back, although it looked like Harding already had a hold on the No. 1 job before last night.  He has been really solid this year with a 10-2-2 record a 1.21 goals agains and a .947 save percentage.  Play him if you can.  Wild forward Zack Parise had the regulation goal and the game winner in the shootout. Parise has 16 points in 19 games this year, and while those are ok numbers, he has not really lived up to his big contract.  Jonathan Bernier was the tough loser in goal for Torotnto as he played great with 33 saves. Flyers flying: The Flyers have now won 3 straight games after a terrible start to the season. Last night they beat the suddenly struggling Penguins 2-1 as Philadelphia's young foward Brayden Schenn scored both of the Flyers goals. Schenn has 12 points on the season in 18 games, so he is not yet fantasy worthy, but he will get there in time.... Ray Emery had a great game in net for Philadelphia with 31 saves, but his numbers this year are not that special and Steve Mason should maintain his hold as the starter. Emery's goals against is 2.82 and his save percentage is only .898....Sidney Crosby had a power play goal for Pittsburgh, and with Lightning forward Steve Stamkos out for possibly the rest of the season, the scoring title should be Crosby's to win. Stars are shining: Nice win yesterday for Dallas, 3-0 over Winnipeg. We are big fans of Stars' goaltender Kari Lehtonen, and he did not disappoint last night with 22 saves and a shutout. Lehtonen's numbers this year are strong with a 8-3-2 record, a 2.01 goals against, and a .932 save percentage.  Good numbers!  He is a first tier fantasy goalie....Dallas forward Tyler Seguin had a goal and 6 shots on goal. He also played 7:04 minutes on the power play, so he is being given ...

Make sure to leave Schenn on the bench tomorrow if you have a full roster

Line Change: Hartnell-Giroux-B Schenn; dailyfaceoff.com Mon 1/14/13 2:56 PM

Schenn is expected to play a big role for the Flyers this year. There's no bigger role than the first line along side one of the leagues best playmakers (Giroux). If he stays on this line, he could be a great fantasy commodity.
