Ben Eager returned to action on Saturday January 28.

Edmonton's Ben Eager will miss tonight's game at Vancouver with an upper-body injury. A back injury and concussion have cost Eager a dozen games this season. In the 36 he has played, the 28-year-old is 5-2-7 with 68 minutes in the box.

Ben Eager scored his fifth goal of the season, but the Oilers dropped a 4-2 decision to Columbus Tuesday. Fresh off winning the fastest skater competition at the team's skills competition, Eager scores a first period marker which gave the team a 2-0 lead at the time. Anton Lander also found the back of the net in the losing effort.

The Oilers held their skills competition Saturday afternoon with surprising results. Enforcer Ben Eager defeated budding superstar Taylor Hall as the team's fastest skater, while stay-at-home defender Andy Sutton had the team's hardest shot. Tough-guy defenseman Theo Peckham of all players, won the shootout competition. No wonder the Oilers sit 29th in the standings. Bear in mind, however, that Jordan Eberle and Ryan Nugent-Hopkins did not participate due to injuries.

Ben Eager has been promoted to the Oilers third line. He played very well on the fourth unit against Carolina Wednesday night and and earned a spot on the third line alongside Ryan Jones and Eric Belanger. He also was very effective in his new gig against the Avalanche Friday night. Eager can score a little when he goes to the net (two goals this week) and he is rather adept at accumulating penalty minutes. He should be on your fantasy radar.

Ben Eager returned from a back injury on Wednesday and scored his first goal of the season. Eager now has two points in 17 games in 2011-12. He should be good for about two penalty minutes per game for the remainder of the season, but he won't do much offensively.

Coach Tom Renney said that tough guy Ben Eager will likely return from a back injury on Wednesday versus Carolina. He has one assist and 25 penalty minutes in 16 games with the Oilers this season.

Ben Eager returned to action on Tuesday December 6.

Ben Eager (back) practiced on Friday and could return for the game against Calgary tonight. Eager twisted his back before the Minnesota game on November 25 and has missed the last five games. He is a good fantasy player as far as penalty minutes is concerned and is capable of 5-10 goals in a good and healthy season.

Ben Eager has missed the Oilers' last two games due to a back injury. He twisted his back stretching before Friday night's game against Minnesota and should be considered day-to-day.
