Watson is set to rejoin the Preds at practice Wednesday and could be headed for a conditioning assignment with AHL Milwaukee, Thomas Willis of the Predators' official site reports.

Watson was recently reinstated by the league, but considering he hasn't played since Jan. 23, a stint in the minors could help him get back up to game speed. Once he gets his legs back under him, the winger could contribute in a bottom-six role heading into the playoffs.

Watson has points in three consecutive games and appears to have shaken off his month-long slump in which he was held off the scoresheet in 16 straight outings. With the points once again piling up, the winger could challenge for an increased role in the top-six, though the impending return of Kyle Turris (lower body) could hurt Watson's chances of getting more ice time.

However, he's been really struggling since then, with just a single goal in 11 games since the start of December. It's quite possible that the foot injury he suffered earlier in the month is still giving him problems, which would account for his reduced ice time. Either way, it's probably best to stash him on your fantasy bench until he's back up to speed.

Watson was spotted in a walking boot Monday and looked like a long shot to suit up, but he's ready to man the third line. Watson has five goals and seven points in 12 games. His goal scoring won't continue at this rate, but he adds a physical touch as well with 28 hits.

This probably rules Watson out for Tuesday's game against the Senators, and perhaps Thursday's matchup with the Canucks as well. The Predators seem snakebit at the moment, as they were already missing Filip Forsberg (hand), Kyle Turris (upper body), and Viktor Arvidsson (hand) before Watson went down. If you want a silver lining, this could mean more playing time for the promising youngster Eeli Tolvanen.
