NHL IN 30: CHICAGO BLACKHAWKS 2014-2015 primepucks.com Tue 9/30/14 1:26 PM
Chicago just about made it to their second straight Stanley Cup Finals appearance last June when a Game 7 dagger by the Kings prematurely ended that dream. There weren't many glaring weaknesses with last season's version of the Blackhawks, but they indeed addressed their need for a no. 2 center when they picked up ex-Ranger Brad Richards via free agency. Their offense is incredibly stacked with all sorts of talent, ranging from elite (Patrick Kane & Jonathan Toews) to on the verge of breaking out (Brandon Saad). Throw in two-time Norris Trophy winner Duncan Keith who leads an upper echelon defense plus underrated goalie Corey Crawford and you have yourself an elite team that could be back on top. In fantasy, high-end options prevail in every position, so pay special attention to the Blackhawks.
GOALIES
Among the best goalies in the business, Crawford had another stellar campaign with 32 wins, 2.26 GAA, and a .917 SP. While there was a slight drop-off from his career best marks of 1.94 and .926 set in 2012, he should again be regarded as a top-ten fantasy option. Because he usually falls under the radar and gets chosen somewhere between the 10th and 15th goalie taken, Crawford packs a lot of value.
When you get your hands on the starting goalie of arguably the best NHL team, you are doing something right. You can also do better if you select backup Antti Raanta in the late rounds strictly for insurance if Crawford would to get injured.
DEFENSE
On defense, you can't do much better than Keith. While it's unreasonable to expect him to duplicate his Norris Trophy winning feat of 61 points, he is a sure lock to post 45+ points on this prolific scoring team. He will probably be drafted 1-2 rounds earlier than he should, but he is a safe lower-tier first option on defense. Man, does he get a boatload of secondary assists! Brent Seabrook plays on the top defensive pairing with Keith and while not as offensively gifted, he usually gets his faire share of points. His ceiling tops off in the mid 40's but most likely expect in the 30-35 range with a great plus/minus. Nick Leddy is on the rise as made evident by another 30+ point season, but he needs to show more consistency. Take a chance on him late as he has the ability to play on the top power-play.
FORWARDS
RW Kane remains the Chicago forward with most upside, even though he has only surpassed the 80-point mark once in his NHL career. Still, even after missing 13 games due to injury last season, he still managed...
DAILY PRIME - JUNE 27, 2014: SIGNED AND TONIGHT'S DRAFT primepucks.com Fri 6/27/14 1:46 PM
The St. Louis Blues have signed C Patrik Berglund to a 3-year deal ending speculation that he would be sent off to Ottawa in any type of Jason Spezza trade. Perhaps there are other players that could be substituted in any attempt to acquire the star Senator. Perhaps we will find out by tonight's NHL Entry Draft. The Chicago Blackhawks have signed some key support personnel by inking backup G Antti Raanta and F Ben Smith to 2-year deals. The Hawks are tying up all their loose ends as they head into the Draft tonight. Speculation is that they are heavy into trying to acquire the 1st overall pick from Florida. Tonight should be very interesting as there are a ton of rumors going around the league today.

Goalie Start: Raanta starts for the Blackhawks. dailyfaceoff.com Fri 4/4/14 7:56 PM
Raanta gave up five goals on 29 shots in a loss to the Senators last Friday. Raanta has lost his last five starts while allowing 3.40 goals per game and posting an .868 SV%. He will be in tough as he goes head-to-head with Sergei Bobrovsky who appears to be dialled in down the stretch.
THE GOALIE EDGE: 4/4/2014 primepucks.com Fri 4/4/14 2:17 PM
ALL GOALIES ARE CONFIRMED UNLESS OTHERWISE NOTED AT THE TIME OF PRINT
Peter Budaj will take on Craig Anderson and the Ottawa Senators while Carey Price will go up against Detroit tomorrow night. You never know which Anderson you are going to get this year while Budaj has given steady performances as the Montreal Canadiens backup. The Habs are 8-2-0 in last 10 while the Sens are just 4-5-1. Go Habs....
The winner in tonight's showdown between the New Jersey Devils and the Washington Capitals will improve their shot at possibly making the playoffs with just a handful of games remaining after tonight. Caps goalie Jaroslav Halak has lost 4 in a row and has not looked like the goalie he was while in St. Louis. Cory Schneider, on the other hand, looks to be regaining the form he had prior to the Olympic break where he was stellar in net but not receiving goal support. Schneider has gotten the Devils 5 points in his last 5 starts, losing in 2 shootouts and an overtime game to Minnesota. Both teams playing spirited hockey, but I'll give the edge to Schneider....
Buddy, I mean Matthew Hackett will be in net for the Buffalo Sabres as they continue their road trip with a stop in Detroit. The Red Wings have picked up their game lately winning 3 in a row and 6 of their last 10 to put themselves in good position to make the playoffs for the 23rd consecutive year. Jimmy Howard will protect the net once again for the Red Wings and should stretch the streak to 4....
Roberto Luongo returns to the net for the Florida Panthers as they take on very pesky Calgary Flames team. Joey MacDonald gets the call as the Flames are playing the back end of two in a row. Ramo has started 7 in a row and with back-to-back nights, MacDonald gets the draw. The Cats have lost 4 in a row and are just 2-7-1 in last ten games, showing signs that their minds are elsewhere. Stay warm with the Flames.....
Thomas Greiss of the Phoenix Coyotes will look to stop his personal, and the team's, 3-game losing streak tonight against the Edmonton Oilers. The Coyotes have slipped from the eighth playoff position during this losing streak while the Dallas Stars have gone on a run, winning 5 of their last 7. The Oilers may prove the right elixir as they have lost 6 of last 7. Look for Ben Scrivens (LIKELY) to get the call for Edmonton.....
Columbus has probably the toughest schedule of all the teams battling to make the playoffs in the Eastern Conference but catch a break tonight as both the Blue ...
