It remains to be seen if Antti Miettinen will make his Jets debut on Saturday. Miettinen started the season in the KHL before signing a two-year deal with the Tampa Bay Lightning. However, he had to clear waivers before the Lightning could use him and the Winnipeg Jets took the opportunity to claim him. Miettinen has been forced to travel a lot recently and he's admitted to being worn down as a result. The good news is he seems positive about the Jets' acquisition of him. "Just being around here, it seems like a really enthusiastic bunch of guys," Miettinen said. "A young team, but they try hard, they're excited and they push each other. It's a good recipe right there."

Antti Miettinen was scheduled to arrive in Winnipeg on Wednesday night, but he won't play in Thursday's contest against Washington. "He hasn't played for a couple of weeks," coach Claude Noel said. "He's been skating, but he needs to get back into a rhythm. It will be good for him to get some practice time, get familiar and then get him comfortable and going." Saturday's contest versus the Anaheim Ducks seems to be a likely match-up for his season debut.

Antti Miettinen may make his Winnipeg debut on Saturday after being claimed off waivers Tuesday from Tampa Bay. "We're working on getting him here right now," said GM Kevin Cheveldayoff. "Since the waiver claim was successful we've had several contacts with him trying to get flights and everything like that. He's someone who has played a lot on the power play, he's played penalty kill minutes and he's an experienced NHL player that can come into the lineup and can fit in a lot of different places. He's shown a lot of versatility in his game. He competes hard, and the homework we did on him behind the scenes said he was a real good character person." Miettinen registered 16 goals and 19 helpers in 73 games with the Minnesota Wild in 2010-11.

Winnipeg claimed forward Anttu Miettinen off waivers from Tampa Bay. The Lightning signed Miettinen on Monday and the forward needed to clear waivers in order to play for the team. He failed to clear as the Jets filed a claim today. The 31-year-old veteran of 472 NHL games with Dallas and Minnesota was playing in the Kontinental Hockey League this season before asking for and receiving his release from the Kazan Ak-Bars club.

Antti Miettinen has agreed to a two-year contract with the Tampa Bay Lightning. Miettinen still has to clear waivers before he can play with Tampa Bay. He should be regarded primarily as a bottom-six forward, but he might get some playing time on the Lightning's second line when the need arises.

The Tampa Bay Lightning have signed Antti Miettinen. Miettinen has to clear waivers before he can play for the Lightning. He has two goals and eight points in 20 KHL games this season. He'll provide Tampa Bay with some secondary scoring, but he won't have any fantasy value in standard leagues.
