Goalie Start: Anders Lindback will start against his former team to... dailyfaceoff.com Thu 12/19/13 2:56 PM

Lindback gave up three goals on 19 shots in a loss to the Devils on Saturday. He is now 2-6-1 with a 3.12 GAA and .883 SV% entering tonight's contest against a Predators team who drafted him in 2008. The Predators are a good spot-start matchup, but Lindback's below-average play make him a risky option.

THE GOALIE EDGE: 12/19/2013 primepucks.com Thu 12/19/13 1:25 PM

ALL GOALIES CONFIRMED UNLESS OTHERWISE NOTED AT TIME OF PRINT Steve Mason will be going in his fourth straight start breaking the pattern of two starts and then Emery. In fact, Mason will start for the 6th time in last 7 games and 11th time in past 14. Mason continues to play well in net while the Flyers are finding their offensive game.  Perhaps playing against his former team had a little to do with this start.  Curtis McElhinney will get back in net for the Columbus Blue Jackets after missing a little time to injury. The Jackets have won 4 of 7 and are becoming tough to play against.  Mason should be able to stonewall the visiting Jackets....  Jaroslav Halak will look to get back in the win column against his former team, the Montreal Canadiens. I'm sure he will be stoked to show up his old team, but Carey Price has been playing equally well and this should be a duel between the net minders. Tough call, but slight edge to home team....Calgary visits Detroit at an opportune time as the Red Wings have struggled with injuries to the main components of their team. If you can believe this, the Wheels have lost 6 in a row and have lost starter Jimmy Howard for a few weeks.  However, Jonas Gustavsson has been playing well this year except for his last 2 outings when he let in 5 against a superior Anaheim Ducks team and 4 against the Mighty Pens of Pittsburgh the game prior. The Monster hasn't been the answer as he now has lost 4 in a row.  The Flames have been playing tighter games and if Detroit can't solve starter Karri Ramo, fans may start to get a little uneasy seeing the losing streak extended....Josh Harding will get some treatment for his MS so expect him to miss a few starts. Not considered anything but a maintenance call, fantasy owners should not worry, he will return as the No. 1 in Minnesota. Niklas Backstrom gets the nod and will be up against a somewhat depleted Pittsburgh offense with Malkin and Letang out. Jeff Zatkoff (LIKELY) gets the call as the Pens played last night against the NY Rangers and Fleury was in net. Perhaps a letdown for the Pens, and we all know how the West has been beating up the Eastern Conference teams....Anders Lindback gets the start against his former team, the Nashville Predators. That seems to be the trend tonight with 4 such matchups going.  Tampa Bay has played well without the services of Superstar Steven Stamkos but Lindback has suffered some tough losses in his past two outings.  Carter Hutton has played well ...

Lindback allowed two goals on 36 shots in a loss to the Jets last Saturday. With the Lightning playing tomorrow as well, he gets the easier of the two games when they face the Devils tonight. Linback is 1-4-0 with a 3.23 GAA and .887 SV% on the road this season.

Lindback allowed two goals on 21 shots in a win over the Flyers on November 27. It was just his second win in six starts but moved his GAA and SV% to a slightly more respectable 3.26 and .876. He will get the call tonight against the Jets.

ALL GOALIES CONFIRMED UNLESS OTHERWISE NOTED AT TIME OF PRINT The Philadelphia Flyers, having won 3 of their last 4, head into Big D this afternoon to take on the Stars. Steve Mason gets the start and will be up against Kari Lehtonen (LIKELY) who has started 18 of the last 19 games for Dallas. Both goaltenders playing very well so toss a coin...Let's hope that 13 is not a bad sign for Marek Mazanec (LIKELY) who will be making his 13th consecutive start for Nashville tonight against Braden Holtby and the Washington Capitals. Even though he has lost 4 in a row, Maz has been playing well as the Preds await the return of Pekka RInne. The Capitals offense may be a bit too much for Mazanec.  Holtby should be able to backstop the Caps to a win....The Winnipeg Jets are off to Tampa Bay to take on Anders Lindback and the Lightning. Backup Al Montoya takes the reins for the Jets, a team that has lost 6 of the last 9 so playing against the Bolts is going to be a tough task....Jonas Gustavsson, who is playing lights out this season, may be gaining the edge for the No. 1 goaltending job in Detroit.   Gustavsson will be facing a revitalized Florida Panther team, but the Cats have lost 5 of their last 7, and with the incentive to grab the starter's role, the Monster may be too much for the Panthers to handle.  Tim Thomas should keep them in the game but Gustavsson is on fire....Craig Anderson gets another shot at keeping the starter's job tonight against the Toronto Maple Leafs who have been struggling of late. Hit with a rash of injuries at the Center position, the Leafs have lost 9 of 13 heading into tonight. Perhaps playing against an erratic Anderson will boost the Leafs' offense.  Jonathan Bernier (LIKELY) is coming off an impressive 3-2 overtime victory over Dallas and should get the best of the Sens...Carey Price has been playing lights out all season long and it is starting to show in his record. His metrics have been above average throughout the year so far and that should continue.  The Habs have a chance to share in the Conference lead if the Pens lose to the Boston Bruins in regulation.  Playing against the Buffalo Sabres, with Jhonas Enroth in net, should give them a very reasonable shot at that...Tuukka Rask (LIKELY) and the Boston Bruins are out to get right back in to the Conference battle for the top spot as they host the Pittsburgh Penguins. Marc-Andre Fleury and Rask will be on their game tonight as the battle between Yellow-and-Black should be a ...

Goalie Start: Lindback starts vs. the Flyers. dailyfaceoff.com Wed 11/27/13 2:56 PM

Lindback gave up five goals on 36 shots in a loss to the Sharks last Thursday. It has been a tough start to the season for Lindback. He has just one win in seven appearances with a 3.47 GAA and .872 SV%. With 12 other games in the NHL tonight, you should have better options than Lindback.

Goalie Start: Optional skate this morning, only a few guys on the i... dailyfaceoff.com Thu 11/21/13 7:56 PM

Leaving the ice first at an optional does not mean Lindback will start, hopefully head coach Jon Cooper will announce his starter after the skate. Linback allowed two goals on 15 shots in a relief effort on Sunday. He has not started since November 11 when he gave up two goals on 25 shots in a loss to the Bruins. Lindback is 1-4-0 with a 3.16 GAA and .875 SV% this season.

DAILY PRIME - NOVEMBER 12, 2013 : DAM-KOS! A REMEMBRANCE DAY TO FORGET primepucks.com Tue 11/12/13 8:25 AM

As everyone knows by now, Tampa Bay Lightning Center Steven Stamkos broke his leg in a crash into the goalpost that apparently didn't budge like it was supposed to. With the Bolts sitting atop the Eastern Conference, the Lightning will have to find ways to make up for the lost production.  Stamkos is believed done for the season, with initial reports stating that he would miss anywhere from 6-12 weeks.  Losing a player of this magnitude is damaging to everyone; the NHL team, the Canadian Olympic Team and the fantasy owner.  There will be a few call-ups for tonight's match against the Montreal Canadiens with D-men Sami Salo and Keith Aulie also getting injured in yesterday's afternoon tilt against Boston. Expect wither Tyler Johnson or Alex Killorn to grab a little more ice time, but monitor the next few games to see where the trend lies.....What has probably gone unnoticed was the fine play of both goaltenders, especially Tampa backup Anders Lindback who turned aside 23 of 25 SOG but came away with the loss. Don't expect Lindback to start grabbing starts away from starter Ben Bishop, but the coaching staff will have confidence to go with the backup to spell Bishop from time-to-time....Tuukka Rask continued his dominance over the Bolts this year with his third victory against them by a combined score of 11-1 and shutting them out twice in the process.....I'll be watching the transaction wire to see who the Tampa Bay Lightning call up. Could one of those players be named Jonathan Drouin? Drouin has gone 9-20-29 in 14 games for the Halifax Mooseheads of the QMJHL.
