ALL GOALIES ARE CONFIRMED UNLESS OTHERWISE NOTED AT TIME OF PRINT
The last weekend of the regular season is upon us; 7 games tonight, 9 tomorrow and 10 for Sunday. Where did the time go? With all the playoff positions basically filled except the final spot in the Western Conference, most teams will rest some of the starting goalies for the long playoff drive.
Corey Crawford gets the call tonight against the Washington Capitals, who will go with Jaroslav Halak (LIKELY). Chicago is resting some players and giving some of the younger players some valuable playing time. The Hawks have won 4 in a row and seem to be peaking heading into the playoffs. The Capitals played last night so a rested, Blackhawks squad should be able to get past the Caps....
Detroit sends out Jimmy Howard as the Red Wings prepare for their 233rd consecutive playoff appearance. The Carolina Hurricanes will go with Anton Khudobin who has made Cam Ward expendable by his play this season. Howard has a personal 4-game winning streak so he is back in form after a season where he struggled to find consistency. The Red Wings should make it 5 in a row for Howard....
Curtis McElhinney gets the call for the Columbus Blue Jackets who, despite a tough schedule to close the season, have clinched just their second playoff berth in their NHL history. The Blue Jackets won't suffer with McElhinney in net while the Tampa Bay lightning hoe to get Ben Bishop back for the playoffs. Anders Lindback will start until then to get some playing time in and to boost his confidence. Lindback has managed to win two in a row in relief of the injured Bishop, but the Jackets are hot right now. Go with the Jackets....
Tonight could be Martin Brodeur's (LIKELY) last hurrah with the New Jersey Devils as he takes on Evgeni Nabokov (LIKELY) and the NY Islanders at the Rock. It is difficult to imagine Marty coming back to the Devils especially with the Devils trying to lock down a goalie for the next ten years in Cory Schneider. Unless the Islanders have another target for goalie next season, Nabokov could be re-upping to stay on the Island for one more year. Nabby has gone 4-0-1 in his last five starts, but the Devils will give Brodeur a good sending off.....
A win tonight by Kari Lehtonen and the Dallas Stars will clinch the last open playoff spot but they need to get past the St. Louis Blues to do that, which is no small task. The Blues would love to make the Stars squirm for another day, and with Ryan Miller in ...
Goalie Start: Lindback will start Thursday. dailyfaceoff.com Thu 4/10/14 2:56 PM
Lindback stopped all 25 shots that he faced after replacing the injured Ben Bishop in Tuesday's 3-0 victory vs. Toronto. It looks like Bishop will miss at least the rest of the regular season, leaving Lindback with the starting duties. Lindback is 6-12-2 with a 3.11 GAA and .884 SV% this season. While those are ugly numbers, he has managed to go 2-0 with a 2.50 GAA and .915 SV% vs. Philly.

Lindback allowed three goals on 21 shots in a loss to the Sabres on March 6th. If he had a tough time with Buffalo, he should be in for a treat this afternoon in Pittsburgh. The Penguins sit fifth in the NHL in scoring, while Lindback's SV% of .879 is well below the goalies benchmark of .900.
Goalie Start: Lindback leads the Lightning onto the ice for warmups... dailyfaceoff.com Thu 3/6/14 7:56 PM
Lindback has not played since January 30 because of an ankle injury. Lindback has recently returned from a conditioning stint with Syracuse (AHL) where he finished 1-1-0 with a 1.54 GAA and .939 SV%. The Lightning will ease him back into NHL action by likely giving him the start vs. the Sabres.
THE GOALIE EDGE: 3/6/2014 primepucks.com Thu 3/6/14 2:59 PM
With Tim Thomas traded to the Stars, you know that today's likely starter Kari Lehtonen will be extra motivated to keep hold of his starting job. He will be facing an offensively starved Vancouver squad, who he has beaten both times this season with a 1.00 GAA. The Canucks have basically given up, so look for the Stars to prevail in this critical match-up.
So, let me get this straight... Braden Holtby gets bombed in net by the Flyers last night, but Washington elects to go back to him in goal instead of newly acquired Jaroslav Halak! This makes no sense as their opponent, the juggernaut Boston Bruins, will continue to roll behind the stellar goaltending of Tuukka Rask and their well-oiled offensive attack. Take the "B's".
We have Ryan Miller facing Pekka Rinne in Nashville, as the ex-Buffalo Sabre goes for his 3rd straight win. He has trailed by 2 goals in both games, but we expect the Blues to easily stifle the Predators offense. Plus, Rinne will need a few games under his belt before he is back to All-Star form.
I am a bit nervous about taking Tampa Bay to win whenever Anders Lindback gets the start, but hopefully the long-awaited return of Steven Stamkos will provide enough of a spark to defeat the resilient Buffalo Sabres. It might take a few days for the Lightning offense to adjust in wake of the Marty St. Louis trade, but adrenalin should win over in this one.
The "Razor" loves Ben Scrivens as Edmonton takes on a punchless New York Islander team at Rexall Place. It's just like the Oilers to go on a late-season push when they are clearly out of the playoff race. Scrivens will continue to shine and justify his contract extension. Go Oilers..
FANTASY MUST-START
Tuukka Rask, Boston vs. Washington
Kari Lehtonen, Dallas vs.Vancouver
Ryan Miller, St. Louis @ Nashville
Anders Lindback, Tampa Bay vs. Buffalo
Ben Scrivens, Edmonton vs. NYI
Sleeper Alert
None.

Lindback has not played a game since January 30 because of an ankle injury. He was in Syracuse on a conditioning stint, but has been activated from IR and will reclaim his spot as Ben Bishop's backup.
Injury: Lindback (lower-body) did not skate Friday. dailyfaceoff.com Fri 1/31/14 2:56 PM
Lindback is likely unavailable for Saturday's game after suffering a lower-body injury after replacing Ben Bishop on Thursday night. Lindback finished the contest despite the injury, but his ailment will likely force the Lightning to recall a netminder.
