Hood was diagnosed Tuesday with a fractured right elbow and won't play in the Redskins' season finale against the Giants, John Keim of ESPN.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Head coach Jay Gruden revealed Hood wouldn't require surgery to address the injury, but the nose tackle will be shut down nonetheless in order to recover from the setback. Hood will wrap up the 2017 campaign with 25 tackles (13 solo) and a half sack over 15 appearances.

Hood (elbow) will receive an MRI on Monday.
EDGE Analysis
Per the report, Hood dislocated his elbow during Sunday's game and will have to undergo further evaluations to determine the extent of the injury. Hood's status for Week 17 should be more clear following the MRI results.

Hood re-signed with the Redskins on Wednesday.
EDGE Analysis
After signing a one-year deal with the Redskins in the spring of 2016, Hood appeared in all 16 games this past season, starting 14 of which, and cranked out a total of 33 tackles and three passes defensed. With the release of incumbent starter Ricky Jean-Francois, he could be in the mix for starting duties ahead of the 2017 campaign.

Hood was released by the Bears on Tuesday, Brad Biggs of the Chicago Tribune reports.
EDGE Analysis
A first-round selection back in 2009, Hood has just 12.5 sacks and 164 tackles in 96 career games. Wherever he might land, he'll likely have to compete for a back-end roster spot next season.

Hood signed with the Bears on Thursday, Adam Jahns of the Chicago Sun-Times reports.
EDGE Analysis
Hood's signing coincides with the release of veteran defensive tackle Jeremiah Ratliff, who was dismissed from the team following a heated exchange with GM Ryan Pace outside of the Bears' practice facility Wednesday. A former first-round pick in 2009, Hood was placed on injured reserve by the Jaguars to open the season due to a foot ailment, but was released earlier this week. Given that he's now listed on the Bears' 53-man roster, Hood has presumably recovered from the injury and should be available in a backup capacity for the team's next game Nov. 1 against the Vikings.

The Jaguars coaching staff has had nothing but praise for DT Ziggy Hood. Hood inked a four-year, $16 million deal with Jacksonville. Getting him out of Pittsburgh's two-gap system as a defensive end and into an attacking role as a three-technique defensive tackle should do Hood wonders. He'll serve as Sen'Derrick Marks' direct backup. Hood had 5.5 sacks in five seasons with the Steelers.

Jaguars signed DT Ziggy Hood, formerly of the Steelers. Hood is a first-round pick who just turned 27, but he was an utter bust in Pittsburgh, struggling in both run and pass defense. He'll be a limited-snap rotational tackle if he makes the Jaguars' 53. Hood finished the 2013 campaign with 39 tackles and three sacks, appearing in 16 games and making seven starts.

Free agent DL Ziggy Hood is visiting the Jaguars. Hood, the 32nd pick in the 2009 draft, has pretty much been a bust to this point. He wouldn't be anything more than a rotational interior lineman in Jacksonville, but landing with a coach like Gus Bradley could help turn his career around.

ESPN's Scott Brown believes it is unlikely the Steelers re-sign free agent DL Ziggy Hood. Hood has been something of a bust since being selected by the Steelers in the first-round in 2009. He lacks the athleticism to push the pocket as a defensive end in Pittsburgh's 3-4, but also lacks the size to play nose. Hood's best fit could be a "one-technique" in a 4-3 scheme. Brown thinks Hood, who just turned 27, could command $3 million annually on the open market.
