The Top 10 tier lost two high-profile prospects this past week with the promotions of pitcher Bryse Wilson, pitcher (and hitter) Brendan McKay (Rays), and second baseman Keston Hiura (Brewers). McKay and Hiura could play huge roles in their respective teams race for a playoff berth. The Rays multi-tool prospect had an eye-opening debut against the Rangers and more than justified his fourth-overall ranking on last weeks list.Pitcher Dylan Cease ([...]

In Atlanta, Luke Jackson is seeing objects in his rear view mirror, and they may be a lot closer than they appear.A few injuries shook the bullpen world this week too, with a torn UCL wreaking havoc in St. Louis and a shoulder causing some strain on the Oakland bullpen. IDP Waiver Wire - Week 12 fantasysharks.com Tue 11/20/12 8:00 AM

We've made it to Week 12 of the 2012 NFL season. That means that thankfully the bye weeks are finally in the rearview mirror, and Individual Defensive Player (IDP) owners no longer have to deal with patching holes in their lineups caused by players taking a one-week siesta. However, that doesn't mean that there aren't still holes to be plugged, as injuries and lack of production leave fantasy owners scrambling to field a lineup that can get their squads a much needed victory and into the fantasy postseason. Unfortunately, another sad fact of this point in the season is that in many IDP leagues there just isn't a whole lot left on the waiver wire, making it very difficult to find impact players. With that said, that doesn't mean that there's nothing out there, and here's a look at some players that are available in the majority of IDP leagues that have enough fantasy value to at least merit consideration. PICKUP OF THE WEEK DeAndre Levy, OLB, Detroit: The fourth-year pro missed time earlier in the season with a hamstring injury, but Levy returned to the lineup two weeks ago against the Minnesota Vikings and has been fairly productive, notching 14 total tackles over that stretch. Granted, that production is far from eye-popping, but Levy and the Lions face a Houston Texans team on Thanksgiving that is among the NFL leaders in tackle opportunities allowed, making him worth a look as a Week 12 matchup play. Ahtyba Rubin, DT, Cleveland: After notching 80-plus tackles each of the past two seasons, Rubin was one of top players selected in fantasy leagues this year, but a calf injury and long layoff led to Rubin being cut loose in many IDP leagues. However, the fifth-year pro was back in the lineup Sunday against the Dallas Cowboys, and, after logging six total tackles and a sack, Rubin will be working his way back onto many IDP rosters as well, especially in leagues that require defensive tackles. Will Smith, DE, New Orleans: It's been a very tumultuous 2012 season for New Orleans Saints defensive end Will Smith, who was one of the players engulfed in the "Bountygate" scandal. The ninth-year veteran has been on something of a hot streak of late, tallying 13 total tackles and three sacks over the past three games, and, given how little remains on the waiver wire along the defensive front at this point in the year, that sort of production more than makes the 31-year-old worth a pickup. D.J. Williams, LB, Denver: After being suspended for the first nine ...

IDP Sleepers - Week 8 fantasysharks.com Fri 10/26/12 1:00 PM

With week seven in the books we are more than halfway through the fantasy football regular season and the Individual Defensive Player world continues to be a difficult one to define. Injuries continue to batter IDP rosters and the latest one is a doozy, with Dallas middle linebacker Sean Lee going down for the season. IDP owners are scrambling to figure out just who benefits from the loss of their stud players and often are left empty handed. There are rarely top-notch ‘handcuff' options on defenses that can step in and fill the shoes of the injured star. It is often necessary to try and snag a couple of players off the waiver wire to cover one major blow to an IDP roster. That's why it is vital to identify the sleeper candidates to step in and fill the shoes of not only bye week players but also the injured and benched. So let's get to it and go '53 Deep'. DEFENSIVE LINEMEN Ray McDonald, DE, SAN FRANCISCO, at ARIZONA: McDonald does not have the gaudiest stats to date in 2012 with only 12 combined tackles and half a sack to his credit. What he does have is a week eight match-up with the Arizona Cardinals and that is a very good thing for defensive ends. The Cardinals give up sacks in bunches and McDonald did put up five and a half sacks in 2011 and should be good for at least one during this Monday Night Football showdown. Junior Galette, DE, NEW ORLEANS, at DENVER: Galette leads the Saints with four sacks this season and is riding a streak of registering a sack in each of the last two games. He has also forced a fumble and added ten solo tackles in six games this season. He has really blossomed in his second NFL season and benefits from the attention paid to fellow lineman Cameron Jordan and Will Smith. Look for Galette to get to Peyton Manning at least once in week eight. Kamerion Wimbley, DE, TENNESSEE, vs. INDIANAPOLIS: This is another ‘strike while the iron is hot' selection as Wimbley is coming off a big week seven performance. He put up six total tackles, one sack and forced a fumble against Buffalo. The Colts have given up 11 sacks over the last three games and Wimbley looks ready to rip off a string of good games as he finally turns his quarterback hurries into actual sacks. Jerel Worthy, DT, GREEN BAY, vs. JACKSONVILLE: The rookie from Michigan State is having a very nice rookie season for the Packers and should have a big game against the struggling (I am being nice here) Jaguars offense. Worthy has been stout at the point of attack and ...
