Giants LT Will Beatty left Sunday's Week 17 game against the Redskins with an apparent leg injury.
In this meaningless game, Beatty took a shot to the inside of his right knee and went down in tons of pain. He had to be carted off, leaving Stephen Goodin to protect Curtis Painter's blind side.

Updating a previous item, Giants LT Will Beatty's new five-year contract is worth $37.5 million.
The sum was originally announced at $38.75 million, but that includes escalators available on Beatty's 2014-2017 salaries that may or may not be earned. Beatty's contract is fully guaranteed in 2013 and 2014, and he'll collect $24 million over the first three years. The deal's annual average is $7.5 million.

Giants re-signed LT Will Beatty to a five-year, $38.75 million deal.
The Newark Star-Ledger reports the deal includes $19 million guaranteed. It's a nice haul for a player who finally stayed healthy last season after missing 14 combined games between 2010-11. Three days shy of his 28th birthday, Beatty allowed just three sacks and 22 hurries in 967 snaps last season. He was never expected to reach free agency.

USA Today's Mike Garafolo says the Giants and free agent LT Will Beatty have just "minor issues" to resolve in contract negotiations.
Speaking to Giants fans, Garafolo tweeted, "I wouldn't sweat Will Beatty's free agency. Lots of time to resolve what I'm hearing are minor issues." Beatty has long been considered New York's top priority among their own free agents, and it appears a deal is likely to get done before March 12. His signing would leave the Giants feeling a lot more comfortable on the offensive line heading into free agency and the draft.

Giants GM Jerry Reese says there has been "some conversation" with free agent LT Will Beatty.
Beatty is the Giants' top free agent, along with Martellus Bennett, but neither is a likely option for the franchise tag. It might be wise for teams to let their free-agent offensive tackles hit the market because the talent pool is deep, therefore lowering their price tags.

Ralph Vacchiano of the New York Daily News considers free agent LT Will Beatty an option for the Giants' franchise tag.
Vacchiano "hears" that re-signing Beatty is the Giants' highest priority among their own free agents, and that coincides with what ESPN New York has been saying since the season ended. The franchise number for Beatty would be about $9.7 million, but the team's preference is a long-term deal. Vacchiano doesn't envision the G-Men using the tag, but Beatty would be the most likely option if the team feels an extension can be worked out before the season.

ESPN New York says re-signing impending free agent LT Will Beatty "might be the Giants' highest priority" among their own free agents.
Beatty and TE Martellus Bennett are the two free agents the Giants appear dead-set on keeping for the 2013 season and beyond. Beatty, 28 in March, battled back issues last offseason, but he stepped in and started 15-of-16 games in 2012, grading out as Pro Football Focus' No.12 overall tackle. He's part of a strong offensive tackle free-agent group.

ESPN New York considers LT Will Beatty the Giants' "biggest" free agent.
Despite some ongoing back woes, Beatty was solid while guarding Eli Manning's blind side in all 16 games. Turning 28 in March and entering his prime, he'll be looking for franchise left tackle kind of money. We have Beatty ranked sixth among free agent tackles, behind only Ryan Clady, Andre Smith, Branden Albert, Jake Long and Sebastian Vollmer.

Giants LT William Beatty (back) returned to practice on Monday.
"He practiced a little bit," was all coach Tom Coughlin would offer up for comment. The Giants' season opener is just eight days away, but it's looking like Beatty will be ready after missing a majority of camp.
