Free agent S Tyrell Johnson was arrested and charged with urinating in public and resisting arrest without violence in Miami last weekend. The 2008 second-rounder was released by the Lions at final cuts. This won't help his chances of finding a new job. Johnson appeared in just four games for Detroit last season, making three tackles. Johnson was arrested for DWI in 2011.

Lions released S Tyrell Johnson. Johnson is a former second-round pick of the Vikings. He impressed in preseason action, but it wasn't enough to beat out Don Carey and special teams ace John Wendling for a job behind starters Louis Delmas and Glover Quin.

Lions signed S Tyrell Johnson. Veteran S Erik Coleman was waived in a corresponding move. Johnson has been out of the league since the Dolphins released him in the preseason. The 2008 second-rounder was a bust in Minnesota.

The Vikings worked out SS Tyrell Johnson. Johnson was released by the Dolphins this preseason. He appeared in 11 games with the Vikings in 2011. If signed, he would provide safety depth with Mistral Raymond (ankle) expected to miss three to five weeks.

According to the Miami Herald, Dolphins SS Tyrell Johnson ended the offseason program "no better than fifth on the depth chart." Johnson was signed as a candidate to replace Yeremiah Bell, but will likely make a bigger impact on special teams. He hasn't shown anything that would indicate he's ahead of Chris Clemons at this stage of the offseason. The Herald considers Johnson the "biggest disappointment" of the Dolphins' free agent signings.

Dolphins SS Tyrell Johnson is "85 percent" recovered from the hamstring tendon avulsion that ended his season in late November. The injury was serious enough to require surgery. Johnson may be eased into OTAS to familiarize himself with Kevin Coyle's defense, but he's unlikely to be a full participant until training camp.

Dolphins signed SS Tyrell Johnson, formerly of the Vikings. The 43rd pick in the 2008 draft, Johnson underachieved in Minnesota, starting just 27 of 49 games over four seasons. He was primarily a special teamer last year, playing roughly 30 percent of the defensive snaps. A liability in deep coverage, Johnson is a candidate to replace Yeremiah Bell as the Dolphins' in-the-box safety.

The Dolphins recently hosted SS Tyrell Johnson for a free agent visit. Johnson would be a younger version of outgoing SS Yeremiah Bell; both are strictly in-the-box safeties. Johnson played special teams in Minnesota last year.

Free agent S Tyrell Johnson says he's about 75-80 percent healed from hamstring surgery. Johnson had a hamstring tendon avulsion and needed surgery in late November. He's not expected back with the Vikings and will need to prove his health before attracting attention on the open market.

Vikings placed S Tyrell Johnson (hamstring) on injured reserve, ending his season. Johnson suffered a "significant" hamstring injury in Week 12. With Husain Abdullah also done for the year, Mistral Raymond will likely take over at free safety, leaving the Vikes with second- or third-teamers at three positions in the secondary. A bust as the No. 43 pick in the 2008 draft, Johnson will reach free agency in 2012.
