Waynes had five total tackles and played 42 snaps on defense in Sunday's win over San Diego.
EDGE Analysis
Waynes played his first snaps on defense this season as he was pressed into duty after Xavier Rhodes suffered a concussion. He held up well in pass coverage and could start at cornerback this week if Rhodes remains out.

Waynes, the 11th overall selection the 2015 NFL Draft, hasn't played a snap on defense through two games.
EDGE Analysis
Despite talk in the preseason that he may overtake Captain Munnerlyn for the third cornerback and nickelback role, Waynes doesn't look to be a part of the rotation in the secondary. He could emerge with a role later in the season.

Waynes, the 11th overall selection the 2015 NFL Draft, agreed to a four-year contract with the Vikings on Thursday, the Minneapolis Star-Tribune reports. With Xavier Rhodes locked into one starting spot, Waynes will likely compete against veterans Terence Newman, Josh Robinson and Captain Munnerlyn for snaps. The rookie has the highest ceiling of the bunch, as the other three guys are borderline starting-caliber players. It's been a while since the Vikings had decent depth at cornerback, but if Waynes can step right in and contribute, they should be in pretty good shape at the position this season.
