If the injury -- which kept Porter out of practice Monday -- proves to be significant, his chances of cracking the roster could take a serious hit.

Porter signed a one-year deal with the Bears on Monday. Porter was released by the Redskins just over a week ago following a season that was plagued by multiple injuries. Those ailments limited him to just three games and five combined tackles, but when healthy, he's capable of 50-70 tackles and creating multiple turnovers. Porter will be a more-than-capable addition on a struggling pass defense that ranked 30th in the league in 2014 with 264.4 passing yards allowed per game.

The release of Porter, who was limited to three games for Washington last season due to hamstring and shoulder injuries, saves the team $2.2 million against the salary cap. Porter became expendable due to the emergence of 2014 fourth-rounder Bashaud Breeland as well as the free agent addition of Chris Culliver.
