Savage is building chemistry with the Texans' young wide receiver corps, Aaron Wilson of the Houston Chronicle reports. "It's helping a lot," the quarterback noted. "That's all it's about, is chemistry with these guys and competing against one of the best defenses in the NFL. It's all you can ask for. I think a little more of it is in the communication, obviously, with some of the guys."
EDGE Analysis
Savage heads into the training camp as the No. 1 quarterback for the first time in his career and is getting connected with the starting wideouts on the team as a result. While head coach Bill O'Brien remains adamant that Savage is the starting quarterback, rookie Deshaun Watson is clearly the quarterback of the future, leaving people to question just exactly when the future will be. In the meantime, Savage, who recorded 46 completions on 73 attempts for 461 yards in three games last season, will continue to get synched in with DeAndre Hopkins, Will Fuller, and the likes.

Savage is Houston's starting quarterback according to head coach Bill O'Brien who made that clear following the team's first-round selection of Clemson quarterback Deshaun Watson, John McClain of the Houston Chronicle reports. "Tom is our starter," O'Brien said.
EDGE Analysis
O'Brien said Watson will have to sit and learn behind Savage and Brandon Weeden, though it's clear the long-range plan is for Watson to be Houston's franchise quarterback. Savage, by dint of his experience in the offense, is the likely starter Week 1.

Savage likely will face competition from an early-round draft pick, John McClain of The Houston Chronicle reports.
EDGE Analysis
Savage and Brandon Weeden -- both in the last year of their contracts -- are the only quarterbacks on Houston's roster ahead of the 2017 NFL Draft. While Weeden might nominally be a part of the competition, the starting job likely will come down to a battle between Savage and a rookie. The 26-year-old only has 92 pass attempts in three professional seasons, but he did appear competent in a late-season cameo last year before suffering a concussion in Week 17.

With Tony Romo leaving football for a career in broadcasting, Savage is expected to be Houston's starting quarterback, ESPN.com's Todd Archer and Adam Schefter report.
EDGE Analysis
Savage's spot atop the depth chart is unlikely to come without a challenge, as the Texans still figure to add a veteran quarterback and/or use an early-round pick on the position. The second route seems more likely, as the team hasn't hinted at any interest in signing the likes of Colin Kaepernick, Ryan Fitzpatrick or Jay Cutler. Savage has only attempted 92 career passes through three seasons, but he did appear competent upon replacing Brock Osweiler for a brief stretch late last season.

Savage is a candidate to be the Texans' starting quarterback in 2017, John McClain of the Houston Chronicle reports.
EDGE Analysis
When Brock Osweiler was struggling mightily down the stretch last season, head coach Bill O'Brien turned to Savage for the first time since he was a rookie in 2014. During the initial appearance in Week 15, Savage entered in the second quarter and led the Texans to a divisional triumph over the Jaguars with 260 yards through the air. He tacked on 176 more yards in his first professional start, but a concussion forced Savage out of the regular season finale and sidelined him throughout the team's two-game playoff run. Outside of jettisoning Osweiler so far this offseason, the Texans have been laying in wait when it comes to the Cowboys' dealings with Tony Romo. With a stellar defense in place, Houston is a premier QB away from challenging New England for supremacy in the AFC. If the Texans are unable to land Romo and instead scoop up a signal-caller in the draft, Savage could be called upon as the starter due to his experience in O'Brien's system.

Savage (concussion) was a full participant in Wednesday's practice.
EDGE Analysis
Savage cleared concussion protocol earlier in the week and will be available for Saturday's divisional tilt with the Patriots. Head coach Bill O'Brien has already named Brock Osweiler the starter for the contest, but Savage will likely serve as the No. 2 option at quarterback, potentially keeping Osweiler on a shorter leash.

According to Texans coach Bill O'Brien, Savage has cleared the league's concussion protocol and will practice Wednesday, NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reports.
EDGE Analysis
Savage was concussed during the second quarter of Houston's Week 17 loss to the Titans, paving the way for Brock Osweiler to reclaim his starting quarterback job for last Saturday's playoff victory over the Raiders. After showing improvement in that performance, Osweiler has already been deemed the starter for Saturday's upcoming clash against the Patriots, but in clearing concussion protocol, Savage should be available as his backup this week, bolstering the Texans' depth at the position.

Savage (concussion) has been ruled out for Saturday's playoff game against the Raiders.
EDGE Analysis
This is no surprise, coming just one day after we learned Brock Osweiler will start Saturday afternoon's playoff game in place of Savage. Brandon Weeden will serve as Osweiler's backup.

Savage remains in the NFL's concussion protocol and is not in line to back up Brock Osweiler in Saturday's playoff game against the Raiders, ESPN.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
With Savage -- who was forced out of this past Sunday's regular season finale due to a concussion -- deemed unavailable this weekend, Brandon Weeden is slated to suit up Saturday and back up Osweiler.

Savage (concussion) has still not cleared concussion protocol and will not start Saturday's playoff matchup against the Raiders, Deepi Sidhu of the team's official site reports.
EDGE Analysis
Should he be cleared, Savage will assume the role as the No. 2 quarterback on the depth chart behind starter Brock Osweiler. In the past three games, Savage threw for 461 yards but failed to throw any touchdowns. If he does not clear concussion protocol in time for the contest, Brandon Weeden will be Osweiler's backup.
