Coach Jim Schwartz criticized Titus Young following Sunday's narrow win over the Rams. Young's immaturity flared up again as he head-butted Rams CB Janoris Jenkins in the second quarter. It resulted in a personal foul and Young was benched for the first series of the second half. "He did that and that wasn't a smart thing," Schwartz said. "It looked like he was going to do the right thing and walk away from it and then at the last second turned and made a really dumb decision." Young ended up with one catch on three targets while Nate Burleson had six catches on eight targets.

Titus Young started Sunday's win over the Rams, but was held to one catch for 14 yards. He added an end-around for 11 rushing yards. Young's two touches came on Detroit's first three drives, but he barely played in the second half after committing an idiotic personal foul late in the second quarter (he head-butted Rams CB Janoris Jenkins). The man fantasy owners were hoping Young would replace (Nate Burleson), meanwhile, made six catches for 69 yards. Young's explosiveness and place in the league's pass-happiest offense make him worth holding onto in a large majority of leagues, but it could take longer than expected for him to carve out a major role.

SI.com's Chris Burke backs up beat writer sentiment that WR Titus Young "continues to look like he's on the verge of a huge season." Burke follows the Lions as closely as any team, so he has a good read on Young's progress. Coach Jim Schwartz calls Young "an important part" of the coaching staff's plans this season. Young is the favorite to finish second on team in receiving yards behind Calvin Johnson.

According to MLive.com, Lions WR Titus Young has been "almost impossible to stop during practices." That's during OTAs, minicamp and training camp. Per beat writer Anwar Richardson, Young has "noticeably stood out," and appears "poised for a breakout year." Young himself agrees. "I always feel like the sky is the limit for me," Young said. "Ever since Barry Sanders pretty much called my name (at the 2011 draft), I just felt like it was God sent. ... It just felt like he was passing me the torch." Rotoworld's No. 49 receiver, Young was held off the stat sheet in Detroit's preseason debut as he played very limited snaps.

Titus Young worked extensively as a kick and punt returner this offseason. It's yet another sign that the Lions are preparing to move on from incumbent return man Stefan Logan. They drafted Ryan Broyles and Young was a standout kick returner at Boise State. Either way, Young's potential special teams role won't affect his ascent up the receiving depth chart. He's locked in as the No. 3 wideout and could be pushing Nate Burleson for the No. 2 job sooner rather than later.

According to MLive.com's Anwar Richardson, Titus Young has looked "amazing" in Lions OTA practices. We did a similar note on this yesterday, but Richardson put it in a column. Per Richardson, Young is "catching nearly every ball thrown his way" and "starting to look like a 1,000-yard receiver." Hopefully, the light has flipped on for Young after his brief OTA suspension. He has big-time skills in the vertical passing game.

According to MLive.com, "nobody can defend" WR Titus Young in Lions OTAs. Per beat writer Anwar Richardson, Young has "looked tremendous." This is despite the fact that Young was barred from a week of practices after getting into a fight with teammate Louis Delmas. Young will put serious heat on Nate Burleson for the Lions' No. 2 job this preseason.

Lions WR Titus Young has resumed participating in OTAs. Although Young was never officially barred from the "voluntary" workouts, he apologized for his "recent actions" in a prepared Tuesday statement. Those "actions" were a fight with teammate FS Louis Delmas two weeks ago. Young's latest bout of immaturity has no doubt dented his standing with his teammates and coaches, but should ultimately leave him no worse for the wear in his quest to unseat Nate Burleson as Detroit's No. 2 receiver. An effective deep threat as a rookie, Young will be a player to monitor closely during the preseason.
