Expect for Wright to see Ebron's share of targets in the meantime as Brandon Pettigrew, who has been hampered by a hamstring injury, is known more for his blocking than his hands.

In his lone season with the Patriots, Wright managed 26 catches for 259 yards and six touchdowns. That production mostly dipped from his 2013 rookie totals of 54 catches for 571 yards and five touchdowns with the Bucs, where he'll hope to earn a significant role once again, despite the presence of fellow tight ends Austin Seferian-Jenkins and Brandon Myers this time around.

Wright was released by the Patriots on Thursday, Mike Garafolo of FOX Sports reports. Wright was in line to serve as one of the backups to Rob Gronkowski in his second year with the team, but the Patriots will instead cut bait with the tight end and his $585K salary. The move is a bit surprising, as Wright had just began to establish himself as a redzone threat, catching six of his 26 receptions last season for scores.
