Falcons LT Sam Baker (knee, foot) is listed as questionable for Week 4.
He's expected to be a game-time decision. If Baker is held out, Lamar Holmes will continue to fill in, with Jeremy Trueblood starting at right tackle.

Falcons LT Sam Baker (knee, foot) remained sidelined at Wednesday's practice.
Baker missed Week 3 against the Dolphins. Lamar Holmes moved over from right tackle to Matt Ryan's blindside. He was absolutely steamrolled, giving up seven hurries and one quarterback hit while grading out as Pro Football Focus' worst Week 3 tackle. Jeremy Trueblood filled in admirably at right tackle.

Falcons LT Sam Baker (knee/foot) has been ruled out for Week 3.
It's a huge concern for an Atlanta offense that faces Miami without any real threat of a running game to take pressure off Matt Ryan in the passing attack. Ryan is going to have to get the football out quickly versus Cam Wake & Co. The Falcons are already scuffling mightily at right tackle. Usual RT Lamar Holmes is now going to play on Ryan's blindside. That's a bad situation.

Speaking to NFL.com's Mike Silver, an anonymous Falcons player said "our (offensive) linemen are punks."
The remark came in response to Saints rookie S Kenny Vaccaro's late hit of Matt Ryan in Week 1. The anonymous teammate was apparently displeased none of Ryan's linemen came to his defense, a la the 49ers after Clay Matthews clotheslined Colin Kaepernick out of bounds in Week 1. The comment doesn't really amount to anything, but is indicative of the tense situation the injury-ravaged Falcons find themselves heading into Week 3. A road win in Miami would do much to right the ship.

Falcons re-signed LT Sam Baker.
Baker was one of the better left tackle options left on a right tackle-heavy market, and Atlanta values him more than most teams do. Turning 28 in May, Baker is coming off his best season in the NFL yet. He started all 16 games for just the second time in his five-year carer and held up well as Matt Ryan's blindside protector. Baker shouldn't come close to Will Beatty or Jermon Bushrod money -- $7 million annually.

The National Football Post thinks free agent Sam Baker is more of a guard than tackle.
One personnel man thinks Baker's best fit is in a zone-blocking scheme due to his limited length, which "affects him as a pass protector" and he "does not anchor well." Baker, 28 in May, had easily his best season in 2012, but he has notoriously struggled since being a first-round pick in 2008. He also has chronic back problems. We're not expecting a hot market for his services.

The Miami Herald mentions free agent LT Sam Baker as an option for the Dolphins.
Baker is injury-prone and struggles in run-blocking, but the Herald suggests him as a short-term solution to replace Jake Long. The Dolphins are hoping to keep second-round pick Jonathan Martin at right tackle.

Late in the 2012 season, one NFL personnel man described free agent LT Sam Baker as a "below-average" starter.
The personnel man called Baker a stopgap rather than long-term solution. Baker, 28 in May, ranks relatively low on a strong offensive tackle market, coming in 10th in Rotoworld's 2013 free-agent OT ratings. The Falcons could potentially let Baker test the market and re-sign him affordably if interest isn't great.

The Atlanta Journal-Constitution considers free agent LT Sam Baker "very likely" to re-up with the Falcons.
A first-round bust leading up to 2012, Baker turned in the first healthy season of his career and will be only 28 years old when the 2013 campaign begins. Baker does not figure to command top dollar in a relatively deep year for free agent left tackles. Assuming that, Atlanta should be able to retain him.

The Falcons are expecting LT Sam Baker to return to his pre-injury form.
Baker has chronic back issues, but he's at least temporarily regained his starting job now that he's healthy. Entering the final year of his rookie contract, he'll looking to reestablish his value before unrestricted free agency next offseason.
