Smith is being evaluated for a concussion during Sunday's game against the Lions, Greg Auman of the Tampa Bay Times reports.
EDGE Analysis
Smith has played solid all season, compiling 45 tackles (37 solo) and three forced fumbles through 12 games, and he had six tackles before leaving Sunday's game in the third frame. Expect Robert McClain and Javien Elliott to pick up Smith's snaps in his absence.

Smith compiled eight solo tackles in Sunday's 34-20 loss to the Falcons.
EDGE Analysis
Smith drew another start with Vernon Hargreaves (hamstring) still sidelined, and he was able to parlay the opportunity into the second-highest tackle total of his young career. The second-year defensive back has proven he can wrap up consistently, but he hasn't been nearly as successful in getting his hands on the ball. Smith has just three passes defensed and no interceptions this season and has seen plenty of playing time recently on a unit that was torched by Julio Jones for 253 yards Sunday and that allows a league-high 285.0 passing yards per contest.

Smith racked up nine tackles (four solo) in Sunday's 30-10 loss to the Saints.
EDGE Analysis
The second-year defensive back was heavily involved for a second straight week with Brent Grimes (shoulder) sidelined. Smith has 15 tackles (10 solo) and a pair of defensed passes in that pair of contests, but he projects to head back to a reserve role once Grimes returns.

Smith managed six solo tackles and two passes defensed in Sunday's 17-3 loss to the Panthers.
EDGE Analysis
Smith drew the start at cornerback alongside Vernon Hargreaves with Brent Grimes (shoulder) and Robert McClain (concussion) sidelined and ended up tying Hargreaves for third on the team in tackles. The second-year defensive back is capable of playing both corner and safety and also serving as a returner. He saw a career-high 63 snaps Sunday, and he could be in line for extended action again in Week 9 versus the Saints if either Grimes or McClain can't return for the contest.

Smith, who paced the Bucs defense with six tackles and added a pass defensed over 43 snaps in Saturday's 13-9 preseason loss to the Browns, has racked up 15 total stops over three exhibitions.
EDGE Analysis
Smith has all but locked up a reserve cornerback spot with his strong performances over the first trio of preseason tilts, as he's been able to parlay Brent Grimes' absence due to a shin laceration into an opportunity to showcase himself. The second-year defensive back primarily worked as a safety in 2016, but his transition to corner has been a relatively smooth one from the beginning of training camp. In addition to what projects to be a nickel corner role, his likely role as a kickoff returner will afford him some fantasy value in deep leagues that count return yards.

Smith totaled five tackles (four solo) in Friday's 23-12 preseason loss to the Bengals. He also returned one kick for 17 yards.
EDGE Analysis
The second-year defensive back was projected to see plenty of time Friday with Brent Grimes (lower leg) sitting out, and that indeed proved to be the case. Smith started the contest with the first-team defense, pushing Bengals running back Jeremy Hill out of bounds on Cincinnati's first play from scrimmage and compiling four more stops. Smith is also in contention for a kick returner spot, a role that, if combined with a possible nickel corner job, could give him some fantasy value in deep formats that factor in return yards.

Smith is expected to see extended playing time in Friday's preseason opener versus the Bengals, Scott Smith of the team's official site reports.
EDGE Analysis
The second-year defensive back has been working with the second team at cornerback behind Brent Grimes (lower leg) and Vernon Hargreaves, and is considered to serve as the primary backup to both in the regular season as well. Smith may even see time with the first team Friday, given that Grimes isn't expected to play due to his shin laceration. The 23-year-old can also return kicks, but is likely to primarily focus on defense in the coming campaign.

Smith, who exclusively played safety during his 2016 rookie campaign, has been working as an outside corner during OTAs, Joe Kania of the team's official site reports.
EDGE Analysis
The second-year man has been benefitting from the reps by all accounts, with head coach Dirk Koetter noting that he's seen improvement in Smith's overall play since the start of OTAs. For his part, Smith is embracing the move, particularly because he feels that corner is his natural position. He's received extra work when Brent Grimes and Vernon Hargreaves have had to miss sessions, and reports that he's been the beneficiary of plenty of help from the veterans in the defensive back room. In addition to added responsibilities on defense this season, Smith, who stood out on special teams last season, is also a candidate to fill the departed Russell Shepard's old gunner role on the punt team.

Smith (shoulder) is active for Sunday's game against the Chargers.
EDGE Analysis
Smith practiced in full Friday, so the expectation was that he was going to suit up for Week 13. Look for him to serve as the Buccaneers' backup free safety and factor into their return game.

Smith (shoulder) was a full participant in practice Friday but is still questionable for Sunday's tilt with the Chargers.
EDGE Analysis
Smith was limited in practice earlier in the week but finally put together a full practice session Friday. Look for a decision to be made just before kickoff Sunday with Adam Humphries likely to take over kickoff responsibilities should Smith be ruled out.
