Griffin (Achilles) was a non-participant in practice Thursday.
EDGE Analysis
Griffin was unable to suit up in Week 3, but he did log a limited practice Wednesday, suggesting he may be ready for a Week 4 return. However, Griffin's participation level went backward to a DNP on Thursday, leaving the veteran tight end's status in greater doubt. If he is unable to play Sunday against the Giants, Trevon Wesco will likely see increased opportunity once again.

Griffin (Achilles) was a limited participant during practice Wednesday.
EDGE Analysis
Griffin presumably picked up the Achilles issue during the team's Week 2 loss to the Packers and didn't practice at all before being ruled out ahead of Week 3. His return to practice is encouraging, but he likely still has a few more hurdles to clear before he's ready to return to game action.

Griffin (Achilles) has been ruled out for Sunday's game against the Texans.
EDGE Analysis
Griffin presumably picked up the Achilles issue during the team's Week 2 loss to the Packers. The backup tight end didn't practice at all this week and will miss at least one contest, but the extent of the issue remains unclear.

Griffin (Achilles) didn't participate in Wednesday's practice.
EDGE Analysis
Griffin caught one pass for 18 yards during Sunday's loss to the Packers, but he presumably picked up an Achilles injury as well. The extent of the issue remains unclear, but his practice participation Thursday and Friday should provide more clarity on his availability for Week 3.

Griffin caught one pass for 18 yards in the Bears' 27-10 loss to the Packers on Sunday.
EDGE Analysis
Griffin posted his first reception of the season, but he's outpaced teammate Cole Kmet by a 3-2 margin in targets through two games. With Chicago having faced a pair of the top defenses in the NFC in its first two games, it's likely Kmet becomes a focal point of the passing attack while Griffin continues to see occasional targets.

Griffin failed to catch either of his two targets in the Bears' 19-10 win over the 49ers on Sunday.
EDGE Analysis
Griffin actually had one more target than starter Cole Kmet. In a game played on drenched field with intermittent heavy rain, the Bears often had two tight ends on the field. Going forward, Griffin will likely see no more than a couple targets per game, but he'd grow into a larger role if Kmet misses time.

Griffin is the only tight end on the Bears' roster aside from Cole Kmet, according to the team's official site.
EDGE Analysis
With James O'Shaughnessy not making the team, Griffin will be on the field when the Bears use two tight end sets. In addition, should Kmet miss time, Griffin could have streamer value if pushed into a prominent role.

Griffin caught a 22-yard touchdown pass in the Bears' 21-20 win against the Browns on Saturday.
EDGE Analysis
Griffin played with the first-string offense when the Bears had a second tight end on the field with Cole Kmet. On Griffin's touchdown, the Browns were unable to pressure Justin Fields while in the pocket, while Griffin found an opening in the end zone, which allowed the duo to connect. Based on his usage, it would appear that Griffin has the lead over James O'Shaughnessy for the No. 2 tight end role.

Griffin (undisclosed) is not expected to play against the Chiefs in Saturday's preseason opener, Alyssa Barbieri of USA Today reports.
EDGE Analysis
Griffin was listed with a group of Bears' players who are battling injuries, but no specific issue was cited. He's currently the favorite to be the top backup at tight end behind Cole Kmet. James O'Shaughnessy is Griffin's main competition for the backup role.

With Cole Kmet being a traditional in-line tight end, Griffin could see slot snaps when the Bears have two tight ends on the field, Alyssa Barbieri of USA Today reports.
EDGE Analysis
Although Griffin hasn't surpassed 320 yards in any of the last five seasons, his role could be similar to the role that saw him post 442 yards in 2016. In that year with the Texans, 66 percent of his catches came from the slot, which is where he's expected to operate in the Bears offense. However, he's still competing with James O'Shaughnessy for snaps behind Kmet. In addition, Griffin will be in his age-32 season, so he may not be the same level of receiver he was in his solid 2016 campaign.
