The Nashville Tennessean reports the Titans are expecting Ryan Fitzpatrick to be their starting quarterback for the "coming weeks." Jake Locker suffered a right hip injury in the third quarter of Sunday's Week 4 win over the Jets and sounds like he'll be sidelined for multiple games. Fitzpatrick came on in relief and completed 3-of-8 passes for 108 yards and one touchdown. His arm is significantly weaker than Locker's. It's a big downgrade after Locker was off to such a good start for the 3-1 Titans. Look for the Titans to rely on the run game even more, though there are some seriously tough matchups on tap. Tennessee hosts the Chiefs next week. The Titans then travel to Seattle before hosting the 49ers. Their bye comes in Week 8.

Titans agreed to terms with QB Ryan Fitzpatrick, formerly of the Bills, on a two-year contract. The Titans trade out 37-year-old Matt Hasselbeck for the 30-year-old Fitzpatrick. The talent gap between the two is minimal, and Fitzpatrick isn't a threat to Jake Locker's job as the starter. FitzMagic will take most of the first-team reps at quarterback this spring with Locker missing time as he recovers from shoulder surgery. Fitzpatrick started all 16 games for the Bills in 2012, completing 60.6 percent of his passes for 3,400 yards, 24 touchdowns, and 16 interceptions. He also lost six fumbles.

Titan Insider's Terry McCormick reports the Titans have "serious" interest in free agent Ryan Fitzpatrick. Tennessee's interest in FitzMagic is heating up after Monday's Matt Hasselbeck release. The club needs a veteran signal caller to back up Jake Locker, who will miss much of spring workouts after undergoing surgery on his left shoulder.

NFL Network's Kimberly Jones reports free agent Ryan Fitzpatrick recently paid a visit to the Titans. The Titans may release Matt Hasselbeck if the sides can't reach agreement on a salary reduction, and Fitzpatrick would apparently be a fallback option behind Jake Locker. Fitzpatrick, 30, is also drawing strong interest from the Bengals.

NFL.com's Kimberly Jones reports free agent Ryan Fitzpatrick has met with the Titans in addition to the Bengals. The Titans need a capable veteran to guide and back up erratic starter Jake Locker, and Matt Hasselbeck is getting too expensive and too ineffective for the job. Fitzpatrick would be both cheaper and better than Hasselbeck, and a new veteran voice for Locker to lean on. The move would make a lot of sense for a Titans team that's seemed somewhat directionless in free agency.

The Bengals hosted free agent Ryan Fitzpatrick on Sunday. FitzMagic spent the 2007-2008 seasons in Cincinnati, backing up Carson Palmer before leaving for greener pastures in Buffalo. Fitzpatrick flamed out as the Bills' starter, but he would be an upgrade on Bruce Gradkowski behind Andy Dalton.

Bengals.com says to not be "surprised" if the team checks out free agent Ryan Fitzpatrick. Coach Marvin Lewis is familiar with Fitzpatrick, as he spent two seasons in Cincinnati before landing in Buffalo in 2009. Fitzpatrick started 12 games for the Bengals in 2008, completing 59.4 percent of his passes for 1,905 yards, eight touchdowns, and nine interceptions. Cincinnati is in the market for a backup after losing Bruce Gradkowski to the Steelers.

Bills released QB Ryan Fitzpatrick. The move comes with a staggering $10 million-plus cap hit, but the Bills didn't see the point in moving forward with a player they had publicly lost faith in. Fitzpatrick has the ability to be one of the league's better backups, but proved time and again under Chan Gailey he didn't have what it takes to be a long-term starter, especially in terms of arm strength. He'll be a backup elsewhere in 2013.

During a secretly taped phone conversation, Bills GM Buddy Nix hinted that he sees Ryan Fitzpatrick as a backup. Nix was shooting the breeze with Bucs GM Mark Dominik, unaware that the call was being recorded. When talks reached the subject of quarterbacks, it got ugly for Fitzpatrick, who counts $10.45M against the cap. "We just can't afford to pay that kind of money for a guy who's fighting for probably a backup job," Nix said. It confirms the Bills will force Fitzpatrick to redo his deal and bring in true competition for the starting gig via the draft or free agency.

GM Buddy Nix says the Bills are still debating Ryan Fitzpatrick's future with the team. "We're still in the process of working on it," Nix said. "Any talking, I'll do with him." Nix did allow he's already spoken with Fitzpatrick "several" times. Fitzpatrick was once viewed as certain to be released, but he'd count roughly $10 million against the cap either way. Although the price is outrageous, Fitzpatrick would make sense as a bridge QB if the Bills wound up with Syracuse's Ryan Nassib on draft weekend.
