White announced on Twitter his retirement from the NFL on Friday.
EDGE Analysis
White calls time on his career after spending this past season out of football following his release from the Falcons last March. A first-round pick out of UAB in 2005, White played all 11 of his NFL seasons for the Falcons, becoming the franchise's leader in nearly every receiving category along the way. In total, White accumulated 808 catches, 10,863 receiving yards and 63 touchdowns, and was named to four Pro Bowls. With his playing days over, the 35-year-old will now reportedly join the coaching staff of an Atlanta-area high school football team.

White wants to keep playing and has been in contact with a few teams, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.
EDGE Analysis
Released by the Falcons in March, the 34-year-old wideout said he will only sign with a team he considers to be a Super Bowl contender. Coming off a season in which he caught just 43 passes for 506 yards and one touchdown on 70 targets (7.2 YPT), White may have to settle for a shot to compete for a roster spot and depth role. It's unclear if he'd be willing to play under those circumstances, as he expressed frustration with his decreasing role in Atlanta last year.

White professed he will only sign with a Super Bowl contender, per The Atlanta Journal-Constitution.
EDGE Analysis
White claims several teams have reached out to him since his dismissal from Atlanta, but he will only sign with a team he believes can contend for a championship. Or else, he'll retire. The wide out patiently vowed: "I'll let it go into the season, maybe Week 4 of 5. If it doesn't happen, I'll be putting my cleats on a power line, just like Marshawn Lynch." White then detailed that his list of qualifying suitors only stretches as far as "maybe six teams", but failed to mention any organization in specific. However, at 34 years of age, it's fair to wonder whether White has anything left in the tank. He didn't appear completely gassed in his final campaign as a Falcon, but, comparatively, Andre Johnson (also 34 years old) logged 85 catches for 936 yards during his last hurrah in Houston before latching on with Indianapolis for a season that proved to be a forgettable stint in Johnson's illustrious career.

Falcons head coach Dan Quinn has speculated that White could reunite with former Atlanta offensive coordinator in Tampa, Greg Auman of the Tampa Bay Tribune reports.
EDGE Analysis
The 34-year-old receiver, released last Wednesday by the Falcons, has extensive history with two principals of the Bucs' 2016 coaching staff. Head coach Dirk Koetter was White's offensive coordinator in Atlanta from 2012-14, three seasons over which the veteran wideout averaged 78 catches for 994 yards and six touchdowns. He also played under new Bucs defensive coordinator Mike Smith during Smith's Falcons head coaching stint from 2008-2014. "Any time you go through the process, you have to expect that, knowing somebody's history with a certain player," Quinn commented after White's release. "I wouldn't be surprised if Roddy ends up on another club just south on I-75". While Tampa's wide receiver depth chart is well-stocked heading into next season, White's familiarity with Koetter's system could conceivably earn him a training camp opportunity if he hasn't latched on to any other roster by that point.

The Falcons have released White.
EDGE Analysis
Per ESPN.com, the release of White saves the Falcons $2,362,500 against their salary cap in 2016, but the departure of the 34-year-old wideout leaves a large void in the team's pass-catching corps. The 2005 first-rounder, who caught 43 passes for 506 yards and a TD in 2015, will thus look to catch on elsewhere, with White's 2016 fantasy prospects difficult to peg until his landing spot/role with his new team gain a degree of clarity.

White said he expects to remain with the Falcons, the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports.
EDGE Analysis
White wasn't happy with his role in 2015, as he averaged just 4.4 targets per game under new offensive coordinator Kyle Shanahan, Nonetheless, White also made it clear that he wants to return and expects to do so, even saying he'd "bet every dollar he had" that he'll stick with the Falcons. He did seem to acknowledge that the aforementioned quote was more about wishful thinking than reality, but it's still quite clear that he'd prefer to stay with the only NFL team he's ever known. The problem is that Atlanta can save $4.5 million against the 2016 cap by releasing White, who may not be too keen to accept a pay cut. It thus remains unclear if he'll stay in Atlanta, but regardless, it doesn't sound as if he's contemplating retirement

White caught one ball for 10 yards in the season finale against the Saints.
EDGE Analysis
White caught 43 balls for 506 yards and a touchdown in 2015, by far his worst statistical season in years. He was held under 50 catches for the first time since 2006, and he's not getting any younger. White is still under contract for two more years, but Justin Hardy could push him for more playing time in 2016. White's best days are behind him, but if he can stay healthy and the offense gets another year under their belt with Kyle Shanahan, it wouldn't be surprising to see White build on a disappointing year in 2016.

White (ankle) is listed as active Sunday versus the Saints.
EDGE Analysis
White has rankled owners all season, scoring just one touchdown and otherwise topping out at 84 receiving yards in Week 1. However, he could make amends against a New Orleans defense that has conceded 12.0 YPC but 12 scores through the air to opposing wideouts over the last five games.
