Bush announced Saturday during an appearance on NFL Network that he has retired from professional football, Amos Morale III of The New Orleans Times-Picayune reports. "I'm done," Bush said. "I said it. It's not breaking news. I've been saying it. I said it all season long, I said, 'Listen, if I don't play this year, I'm going to retire.' Because I'm not going to spend a whole year off, come back, 33 years old, trying to get back in the league."
EDGE Analysis
After going unsigned during the offseason, Bush maintained hope that he would be picked up by a team in need of backfield help, but the offers never rushed in for the veteran coming off a rough season with the Bills in 2016. Bush indicated on the NFL Network broadcast that he intended to retire as a member of the Saints, the team that drafted him with the No. 2 overall pick in 2006. Over his 11-year career with New Orleans, Miami, Detroit, San Francisco and Buffalo, Bush amassed 5,490 rushing yards, 3,598 receiving yards and 58 touchdowns.

Bush plans on playing in 2017 despite not currently being with a team, Kevin Patra of Around the NFL reports.
EDGE Analysis
Bush, a former No. 2 overall pick, will be entering his 12th NFL season in 2017. He played in 13 games for the Bills last year, totaling negative three yards and a touchdown on 12 carries. He believes he still has a lot to offer but will likely need to wait until a team faces injuries to the running back position before any real interest in his services will be drummed up.

Bush is inactive for Sunday's game against the Browns.
EDGE Analysis
Bush still has name recognition, but at this stage his involvement in the Bills' offense is modest, so his presence on the team's inactive list is not a huge surprise. Mike Gillislee and Jonathan Williams are on hand to back up LeSean McCoy on Sunday.

Bush rushed for four yards on his lone carry in Sunday's loss to the Steelers.
EDGE Analysis
Bush's teammate, Mike Gillislee, was out two weeks ago and Bush didn't record a single touch, so it should be no surprise that Bush has only touched the ball twice in the two games since Gillislee's return. The veteran back has recorded more than two touches twice in 11 games and - thanks to plenty of negative runs - has just 95 total yards, 90 of them through the air, on the season.

Bush's teammate Mike Gillislee (hamstring) has been ruled out for Sunday's game against Jacksonville.
EDGE Analysis
Bush and Jonathan Williams will now be the immediate backups to LeSean McCoy, who's more of an injury risk than usual as he's about to play with a dislocated thumb. Coach Rex Ryan is calling Bush and Williams his "2A and 2B" options for the game, though we'd figure Williams is the better bet for carries, since he's seen more than Bush so far (17 to nine) and is averaging far better yards per carry (3.59 to -0.22). Bush is a pretty bad bet all around given that he's lost his job as main return man and even with Gillislee's injury he's still likely third in the pecking order for carries. All we're saying is he's one more injury away from the team needing to rely heavily on him.

Bush caught both of his targets for 22 yards and tallied 13 yards each on kickoffs and punts during Monday's loss to the Seahawks.
EDGE Analysis
This is about as much as Bush will get involved in this offense -- especially with LeSean McCoy close to full health again -- and his returner role should be reduced once Brandon Tate returns from a concussion.

Bush (groin) is listed as active for Monday night's game against the Seahawks.
EDGE Analysis
While the presence of Bush adds to the Bills' running back depth, he hasn't seen enough touches this season to merit fantasy consideration.

Bush (groin) is considered questionable for Monday's game against the Seahawks.
EDGE Analysis
Bush was able to practice in limited fashion again on Saturday after not participating earlier in the week on Thursday. There is much optimism regarding the return of usual starter LeSean McCoy from a hamstring injury, so Bush could see his opportunities out of the backfield limited if he's ultimately able to play as well.

Bush (groin) was a limited participant in Friday's practice.
EDGE Analysis
Bush didn't practice Thursday, so his limited participation to end the week was actually an increase in his workload. With the Bills not scheduled to play until Monday in Seattle, Bush's status is slated to receive another update Saturday, when a better idea of his Week 9 availability may be formed.

Bush (groin) did not practice Thursday.
EDGE Analysis
Despite the name recognition, Bush hasn't made much of a fantasy splash as a Bill thus far, though his injury does tax the team's running back depth, considering that starter LeSean McCoy has been dealing with a hamstring injury.
