Peterson (hamstring) has been designated to return from injured reserve Wednesday.
EDGE Analysis
With the move, Peterson will have 21 days to be added to the active roster. The veteran cornerback has been on injured reserve since mid-October, but he has been designated to return at the earliest possible time, which is a good sign for Minnesota's secondary, who has a date with Aaron Rodgers and Davante Adams on Sunday. It's unclear if he will be available for Week 11, but he appears to be trending in the right direction.

Peterson (hamstring) ran off to the side during Thursday's practice session, Eric Smith of the Vikings' official site reports.
EDGE Analysis
Peterson has been on injured reserve since mid-October and isn't eligible to return until Week 11 against the Packers. However, his participation in running drills suggests that he's trending toward a relatively brief stay on IR. The 31-year-old can return to practice as early as next week, and a better idea of his status will likely come into focus based on his participation.

The Vikings placed Peterson (hamstring) on injured reserve Monday.
EDGE Analysis
Peterson was initially diagnosed with cramps after being forced out of Sunday's overtime win over the Panthers, but it appears that he's dealing with a more serious issue. The veteran cornerback will be forced to miss at least three games while on IR, but coach Mike Zimmer hinted that he could end up missing more time by saying "we don't believe" Peterson's injury is season-ending, per Courtney Cronin of ESPN.com.

Peterson has been diagnosed with cramps and is questionable to return Sunday against the Panthers.
EDGE Analysis
Peterson was believed to have suffered a serious injury, but in the end, he was diagnosed with cramps. It remains to be seen if he'll be able to return to action, but he certainly avoided a serious health concern.

Peterson (foot) was carted off the field Sunday against the Panthers, according to Ben Goessling of the Minneapolis Star Tribune.
EDGE Analysis
Peterson had to be helped off the field, and while he wasn't putting any weight on his right foot initially, the situation improved as he got closer to the sideline. Ultimately, he had to be carted off to the locker room, and while no official designation has been given, he isn't likely to return before the end of the contest.

Peterson had one tackle and allowed three receptions on four targets for 75 yards in Sunday's overtime loss to the Bengals according to Pro Football Focus.
EDGE Analysis
Peterson wasn't too busy in his Minnesota debut, as the Bengals targeted a struggling Bashaud Breeland eight times. Peterson doesn't have the same coverage skills as during his prime in Arizona, but he gives Minnesota an upgrade over last year's shaky secondary.

Peterson signed a one-year, $10 million contract with the Vikings on Wednesday, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
EDGE Analysis
The Vikings' defense needed reinforcements after giving up 258.8 passing yards per game (eighth-most in the league). Peterson will add stability to the young secondary. The 2011 first-round pick allowed a 98.2 passer rating in coverage last year, and he added 61 tackles, eight pass breakups and three interceptions to his ledger as well.

Peterson had 61 tackles (52 solo), eight pass defenses and three interceptions in 16 games during the 2020 campaign.
EDGE Analysis
In his age-30 season, Peterson notched his most tackles since he was a rookie back in 2011 and also recorded at least three picks for the fifth time in his noted 10-year career. He isn't nearly the player he was during his prime, when he earned three first-team All-Pro bids (2011, 2013 and 2015). Still, the upcoming unrestricted free agent could get one more lucrative deal based on name recognition alone.

Peterson said he hasn't discussed an extension with the Cardinals, though he'd love to stay with one team for his entire career, Darren Urban of the Cardinals' official site reports.
EDGE Analysis
Peterson will turn 30 in July, entering the final season of a five-year, $70 million extension. He opened 2019 with a six-game suspension and didn't play up to his usual standard upon first rejoining the lineup, but he then closed out the year with five pass defenses and an interception over the final three weeks. Cardinals GM Steve Keim suggested in February that the team prefers to keep Peterson around beyond 2020.
