Pat Chung will enter training camp as the Eagles' favorite to start at strong safety.
He'll face competition from rookie Earl Wolff, but Chung will qualify as an IDP sleeper if he keeps the job into Week 1. Philly's front seven doesn't project as particularly stout, and Chung will be an "in the box" safety, playing close to the line of scrimmage. Chung racked up 96 tackles with New England in 2010.

Pat Chung's contract with the Eagles includes $6.25M guaranteed over 2013 and 2014.
It confirms that the Eagles fully expect Chung to step in and start for the foreseeable future. They can safely take the plunge because coach Chip Kelly was on staff at Oregon while Chung was there.

Eagles signed S Pat Chung, formerly of the Patriots.
Chung played at Oregon while coach Chip Kelly was the offensive coordinator. He easily becomes the Eagles' best safety, despite falling out of favor in New England. He's still just 25 years old, and is a physical player at 5-foot-11 and 212 pounds.

ESPN Boston's Mike Reiss says teams he's talked to have questions about free agent S Patrick Chung's health.
Chung has missed 14 games over the last three seasons while dealing with shoulder, foot, and thumb injuries, among others. Reiss believes Chung may be seeking a one-year, prove-it deal in an effort to reestablish some value. He won't be returning to New England.

ESPN Boston reiterates that free agent SS Pat Chung's days with the Patriots are likely over.
The Pats appear set at safety with Devin McCourty, Steve Gregory and Tavon Wilson. Chung played just two snaps in the AFC Championship game and will be looking for a more direct path to playing time. There's been previous speculation that the safety-needy Eagles could come calling. Chung could be a steal as he's still just 25 years old and showed a physical skill set before falling out of favor in New England.

The Philadelphia Inquirer says the Eagles could have interest in free agent SS Patrick Chung.
Chung is unlikely to be re-signed by the Patriots after being used as a sub-package player in 2012. With the Eagles looking to upgrade at safety this offseason, both Chung and FS Jairus Byrd could be targeted if they're allowed to test the open market. Byrd is highly doubtful to reach free agency and is an obvious candidate for the Bills' franchise tag if a long-term deal isn't worked out.

WEEI Boston agrees with ESPN Boston that free agent SS Pat Chung is unlikely to be re-signed by the Patriots.
Chung has been injury plagued in back-to-back years and was a bit player behind Devin McCourty, Steve Gregory, and Tavon Wilson down the 2012 stretch. A playmaker when healthy, 25-year-old Chung should still have a solid free agent market. He can play both safety spots and has six picks over the past three seasons.

Patriots SS Pat Chung (shoulder, hamstring) is listed as questionable for Week 10 against the Bills.
Chung and FS Steve Gregory (hip) are both listed as questionable, but that's hardly an indication of where they are physically. Chung was limited in practice this week and ESPN Boston doesn't expect him to be available for Sunday's game. The Patriots will be forced to start Devin McCourty at safety if Chung and Gregory are ruled out.
