Burks (shoulder) was a limited participant in Wednesday's practice.
EDGE Analysis
Burks dislocated his left shoulder prior to Green Bay's third preseason game, but said he's ready to practice in full and could return as a nickle linebacker, Tom Silverstein and Jim Owczarski of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel report. The 2018 third-rounder served as the Packers' starting inside linebacker prior to his injury, but the addition of veteran Antonio Morrison could seemingly cause Burks to be moved to the nickle linebacker role. Burks has reportedly digested the playbook well enough to facilitate the move, which is a good sign for the rookie's versatility.

Burks (shoulder) is inactive for Sunday's contest against the Bears, Josh Tolentino of The Athletic reports.
EDGE Analysis
Although he earned a questionable designation following limited practices all week, Burks, a 2018 third-round pick, always seemed like a long shot to suit up Week 1, especially after wearing a harness on his left shoulder as recently as Wednesday. Expect August trade pickup Antonio Morrison to get the start at inside linebacker next to Blake Martinez in Week 1 and perhaps until Burks is completely healthy.

Burks (shoulder) was limited during Friday's practice and is listed as questionable for Sunday's game against the Bears, Michael Cohen of The Athletic reports.
EDGE Analysis
This news is much more favorable than the report from a week ago saying he's unlikely to play. If the rookie third-round pick can go, he's slated to start at inside linebacker. The Packers may limit his snap count with veteran Antonio Morrison rotating in as well.

Burks (shoulder) will likely be unavailable for the season opener Sept. 9 against the Bears, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.
EDGE Analysis
Burks could reportedly miss a couple games beyond Week 1 as well, but the bright side of the situation is that the linebacker seemingly avoided a long-term absence. Until Burks is back in order, Antonio Morrison and Greer Martin are the top candidates to fill in at inside linebacker alongside Blake Martinez.

Packers head coach Mike McCarthy said Sunday that the left shoulder injury Burks suffered prior to Friday's 13-6 preseason loss to the Raiders isn't expected to be "a long-term deal," Mike Spofford of the team's official site reports.
EDGE Analysis
Burks said he felt the shoulder pop out during a blocking drill in pregame workouts, but an evaluation of the MRI he underwent after suffering the injury was "better than anticipated." Even so, McCarthy was unwilling to offer a timetable for the rookie's return, suggesting Burks' status for the Sept. 9 opener against the Bears could be in some peril. Perhaps as a response to their dwindling depth at middle linebacker, the Packers swung a deal to bring in Antonio Morrison from the Colts. Morrison could challenge for a starting role on the inside next to Blake Martinez is Burks isn't ready for the start of the campaign.

Burks won't play in Friday's preseason game against the Raiders after injuring his shoulder in warmups, Chris Roth of WBAY-TV 2 reports.
EDGE Analysis
It's a frightening injury for the Packers, who already lost Jake Ryan for the season to a torn ACL. Burks was expected to take the reins at starting inside linebacker, but a serious injury would derail those plans and force the Packers to reach further down their depth chart. Ahmad Thomas will likely start Friday in Burks' place.

Burks had six tackles (all solo) in Thursday's preseason game.
EDGE Analysis
Burks has been active this preseason, making 12 tackles (11 solo) through two games. The rookie will play a key role for the Packers out of the gate, as he is slated to start at inside linebacker alongside Blake Martinez.

Following the news that Jake Ryan has torn his ACL, Burks is expected to receive a major opportunity at inside linebacker, Michael Cohen of The Athletic Wisconsin reports.
EDGE Analysis
Selected in the third round of the 2018 NFL Draft, it appears Burks will be given a trial by fire on the at inside linebacker as a rookie. Fortunately, he will have a steady presence in Blake Martinez working alongside him and will get a full training camp and preseason of first-team reps before he takes meaningful snaps.
