Niles Paul says his transition from wide receiver to tight end is going as "smooth as it can." "The biggest challenge is blocking," Paul said. "Especially the combo blocks and the cut blocks." Paul could be featured as a receiver in some two tight end sets, but should see the majority of his snaps on special teams.

Niles Paul has continued to work at tight end during Redskins OTAs. He's up to 235 pounds after playing in the low-220s at Nebraska, and beat writer John Keim suggests Paul could be a "major threat" on bootlegs as a catch-first tight end. Paul probably won't be on the fantasy radar in his first year at the position, but he could make Chris Cooley expendable behind Fred Davis.

Redskins WR Niles Paul was reportedly working with the tight-end group in this week's workouts. Last year's fifth-rounder is thick at 225 pounds, but his 6'1" height is awfully low for a tight end. He's built more like a running back. Blocked at receiver by the team's free-agent signings, Paul is ticketed for another season of special teams work if he makes the roster.

Redskins coach Mike Shanahan does not expect Niles Paul (turf toe) to play in Week 12. Paul shed his walking boot last week, but is still dealing with some inflammation. He'll likely return in Week 13. Although the Redskins figure to get their rookie wideout some reps down the stretch, he won't be worth a flier with Santana Moss set to return as early as this week.

Redskins WR Niles Paul (turf toe) has not been cleared to practice yet. Paul just shed his walking boot and starting jogging, so he is almost certainly out for Sunday's game against the Cowboys. The rookie was primarily being used on special teams, but is missing a chance for offensive snaps with Leonard Hankerson (hip) and Santana Moss (finger) both sidelined.

Redskins WR Niles Paul (turf toe) has shed his protective boot. Good news, but Paul has yet to resume running. Coach Mike Shanahan said last Monday that Paul was going to miss "a couple weeks," so he should be considered a long-shot to suit up against the Cowboys.

Redskins coach Mike Shanahan revealed Monday that Niles Paul will miss "a couple weeks" with a turf-toe injury. Paul has 25 yards on two receptions and just one punt return on the season, so his absence shouldn't be felt. Leonard Hankerson had recently passed him up on the depth chart. Paul had been playing mostly on special teams.

Redskins WR Niles Paul sustained a toe injury in the second quarter of Sunday's game against the 49ers. Paul is questionable to return. The fifth-round rookie has been passed by Leonard Hankerson on the depth chart anyway.

Redskins coach Mike Shanahan said Monday that Niles Paul and Anthony Armstrong will "take turns" until Santana Moss returns from his broken hand. Moss is expected to miss 5-7 weeks. Armstrong was the Redskins' starting split end last season and has some vertical tools, having played most of this season as a deep threat/No. 3 receiver. Paul, a rookie out of Nebraska, started Week 7 in a three-wide set and has two catches for 25 yards on the year.

Redskins WR Niles Paul is earning extra playing time thanks to his blocking. Paul was the No. 155 overall pick this season and goes 6'1/224. "He's probably one of the better blockers I've seen in the game," receivers coach Keenan McCardell said. Paul is yet to record a catch this season.
