Harris rushed 16 times for 45 yards and brought in one of three targets for four yards in the Steelers' 23-16 win over the Bills on Sunday.
EDGE Analysis
Harris' pro debut certainly didn't offer any jump-off-the-page numbers, but the rookie's strong workload out of the gates was encouraging. He was the only Steelers running back to log a carry on the afternoon, and although he only brought in one of his three targets, the fact he was involved in the air attack to a serviceable extent by running back standards also was a positive. The lack of running room for the Alabama product wasn't necessarily a surprise given the matchup against the talented Bills front, and the rookie could well have a much softer task when he sees the Raiders at home Week 2.

Coach Mike Tomlin said Harris will not suit up for Friday's preseason contest against the Panthers, Brooke Pryor of ESPN.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Tomlin's initial plan was to have Harris suit up for all four of Pittsburgh's preseason games, but the rookie first-round pick already appears to have proven all he needed to. The Steelers will instead sit Harris, along with a number of other starters, in order to guarantee his health for the regular-season opener against Buffalo on Sept. 12. Harris was quiet on the ground during last Saturday's exhibition matchup against the Lions, with just four carries for 10 yards, but he showcased his receiving chops by securing two of three targets for 53 yards, including an impressive 46-yard catch-and-run.

Harris rushed four times for 10 yards and secured two of three targets for 53 yards in the Steeles' 26-20 preseason win over the Lions on Saturday night.
EDGE Analysis
The rookie first-round pick was quiet on the ground for the second straight exhibition. However, he flashed his excellent hands and speed in space with a 46-yard catch-and-run off a crossing pattern shortly after the halfway point of the first quarter, getting the ball down to the Lions' 12-yard line to kick off a drive that would culminate in Pat Freiermuth's second touchdown catch of the night. Harris has been used sparingly overall with an eye on keeping him healthy come Week 1, but by all accounts, he's been as good as advertised in camp and has already demonstrated his elite physical skills on a handful of plays this preseason. Having logged action in the team's first three exhibition contests, it's very possible Harris sits for the preseason finale against the Panthers on Friday.

Harris rushed twice for 10 yards and caught one of two targets for nine yards in Thursday's 24-16 preseason win over the Eagles.
EDGE Analysis
Coach Mike Tomlin said he wouldn't cap Harris' reps in this one, but the rookie first-round pick got only three touches after racking up 25 yards on eight touches last week. Harris is yet to produce a play of double-digit yards, but he should make up for a lack of big plays with volume once the games start to count. The Alabama product will likely see more action in next week's preseason clash with the Lions.

Coach Mike Tomlin noted Tuesday that he won't cap Harris' reps during Thursday's preseason contest at Philadelphia, Dale Lolley of DKPittsburghSports.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Harris saw the field for the Steelers' first three possessions of last Thursday's Hall of Fame Game, earning 18 of a possible 19 snaps. While his final line looks somewhat pedestrian -- seven carries for 22 yards and one catch (on one target) for three yards -- it's a bit more respectable when discounting a rush of minus-four yards on his second-to-last touch (4.3 yards on the other six carries). It remains to be seen what exactly Tomlin means when he says he "has no plans to hold Harris back," but two quarters of work seems like a reasonable expectation.

Harris rushed seven times for 22 yards and secured his only target for three yards during the Steelers' 16-3 preseason win over the Cowboys in Thursday's Hall of Fame Game.
EDGE Analysis
The rookie first-round pick, who's slated to see action in all four preseason games according to head coach Mike Tomlin, got a solid allotment of work in Thursday's contest, beginning with the Steelers' opening drive. Harris looked impressive while churning out a pair of five- and six-yard gains apiece over the three possessions he participated in, and his remaining unproductive runs appeared to largely be the result of subpar blocking. Pittsburgh unsurprisingly played things fairly close to the vest on offense in its opening exhibition, but there's been plenty of rumblings about Harris potentially being split out wide at times during the regular season in order to capitalize on his above-average receiving skills.

Coach Mike Tomlin said that he plans to play Harris in all four of the Steelers' preseason games, Gerry Dulac of the Pittsburgh-Post Gazette reports. "He's a rookie," Tomlin said of the team's new top back. "He needs the process of game preparation and to ultimately play. We have four opportunities for him to do that and we're going to make sure he participates in all four of those processes."
EDGE Analysis
Based on that comment and Tomlin's assertion that the team will focus on pre-game "preparation process" for the No. 24 overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft, it remains to be seen how many snaps/carries Harris might see in Thursday night's Hall of Fame Game against Dallas. As a rookie, the Alabama product has an immediate path to fantasy utility during the regular season, but we suspect that even if he does suit up for all of Pittsburgh's exhibition contests, the team will likely manage Harris' exposure to contact.

Harris is listed as the Steelers' starting running back on their initial depth chart, Joe Rutter of the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review reports.
EDGE Analysis
While initial depth charts usually don't carry much weight, it's not very surprising to see Harris listed as the Steelers' top running back after the team selected him with the 24th overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft. The 23-year-old has impressed during the first several days of camp, as he's been seen constantly working with the coaching staff during down time and has been effective as a receiver, Albert Breer of TheMMQB.com reports. The 230-pound Alabama standout shouldn't face much competition for the starting job from Benny Snell, Kalen Ballage or Anthony McFarland ahead of the regular season.
