Second-rounder Mychal Kendricks is expected to enter training camp as the Eagles' starting strong-side linebacker.
"He improved every day [throughout spring practices]," said coach Andy Reid, "and we threw a lot at him to give him a solid foundation to go into training camp with." The No. 46 overall pick has showed off explosiveness, athleticism, pass-rush, and coverage ability this offseason.

No. 46 pick LB Mychal Kendricks was running as the first-team SAM linebacker at Eagles OTAs on Tuesday.
Just as he did at the Eagles' rookie minicamp. Kendricks' prime competition for the job, LB Jamar Chaney, is still recovering from offseason neck surgery, but it's clear the Eagles are giving him an inside track on starting as a rookie. Chaney is not expected to participate in June's minicamp, but actually managed to get some work in on Tuesday. Chaney should be ready for camp.

No. 46 overall pick LB Mychal Kendricks is working as a SAM linebacker at Eagles' rookie minicamp.
It's hardly a surprise since the Eagles' veterans are not present for this weekend's camp, but Kendricks is believed to have the "inside track" on Philadelphia's starting strong-side linebacker job over Jamar Chaney. Kendricks is a rookie to watch in IDP leagues.

Eagles signed No. 46 overall pick LB Mychal Kendricks to a four-year contract.
One of the draft's fastest linebackers, Kendricks is believed to be ticketed for the strong side in Philly after playing inside in Cal's 3-4 scheme last year. ESPN's Bill Polian called Kendricks "the best 4-3 attacking linebacker in the draft except for Luke Kuechly." The Eagles are high on his pass-rushing potential in addition to his ability to cover tight ends.

The Philadelphia Inquirer believes second-round pick LB Mychal Kendricks "seems to have the inside track" on the Eagles' starting strong-side linebacker job.
Early speculation had Kendricks ticketed for the weak-side, but beat writer Jeff McLane believes he's the favorite over Jamar Chaney on the strong-side. Per McLane, the Eagles "love" Kendricks' pass-rushing ability. McLane thinks Chaney would then "get a shot" on the weak-side, but also that Casey Matthews might be given one more chance to establish himself as a starter. Either way, Kendricks should have a starting job come Week 1.
