Eagles DT Mike Patterson (brain surgery) had one tackle in his 2012 debut Monday night. Patterson came off the bench for 15 snaps and apparently emerged with no setbacks. He's quality depth behind starters Fletcher Cox and Cullen Jenkins.

Eagles activated DT Mike Patterson (brain surgery) from the reserve/non-football injury list. "We'll get it done (Saturday)," head coach Andy Reid said. "It'll be knocked out today one way or another." Patterson has been practicing for the past two weeks. It's been his first action on the field since undergoing offseason surgery to fix a congenital tangle of blood vessels in his brain. Many expected Patterson to miss the season, and his career was even in slight question a few months back. Reid added that Patterson's "moved around well" and has "felt good all the way through workouts." Philadelphia will surely monitor the 29-year-old's snaps upon his return.

Eagles DT Mike Patterson (NFI list) practiced Monday for the first time since undergoing offseason brain surgery. "It felt great," Patterson said. "Was a change of pace, too. Don't have to watch practice through the window anymore." The Eagles have a three-week window to activate Patterson from the NFI list. According to CSN Philly, Patterson is "no lock" to play this year and "still a long way from being activated."

Eagles DT Mike Patterson (brain surgery) could be activated from the PUP list Monday. Patterson is expected to begin practicing next week, but is still a "ways off from game ready." The Eagles have until Week 9 to decide whether to add him to their active roster. An eight-year veteran, Patterson is making $1.5 million this season and under contract through 2016. He hasn't appeared in game-action since 2011.

Eagles renegotiated injured DT Mike Patterson's contract. Patterson was scheduled to make $2.1 million in 2012 but will instead make $1.05 million while he recovers from offseason brain surgery. The Eagles are still holding out hope that the 2005 first-rounder can return to the field this season, but it seems in doubt. Patterson is under contract through the 2016 season.

Eagles placed DT Mike Patterson (brain surgery) on the non-football illness list. Technically, Patterson will be eligible to return in Week 8, but he's likely to simply be shifted to injured reserve. The Eagles have insisted Patterson's anteriovenous malformation (AVM) isn't career-threatening, but it will be a troubling sign for his NFL future if he can't get on the field this season.

Eagles coach Andy Reid admitted that DT Mike Patterson (PUP, brain surgery) will be out for quite a while and potentially the entire season. Patterson underwent January surgery to repair an anteriovenous malformation (AVM) and was given a six-month timetable for a return. He's clearly not back to full health, however, and doesn't figure to contribute this season. The Eagles have said the injury is not career-threatening, but, considering the delicate nature of his situation, only time will tell.

Eagles trainer Rick Burkholder revealed Sunday that DT Mike Patterson (brain surgery) will not participate in training camp. Patterson has been placed on the non-football injury list, with "no timetable for return." Eagles doctors decided to shut down Patterson because he's simply not ready to practice or play in games. Per Burkholder, the Eagles believed Patterson would be healed from his brain AVM surgery after six months of rehab, "but he's not" and "it could be a couple (more) months." While the Eagles are saying for now that Patterson's injury is not career threatening, slower-than-anticipated recovery from brain surgery is an obvious long-term concern.

The Eagles still aren't sure if DT Mike Patterson (brain surgery) will be ready for the start of training camp. Patterson will report to Lehigh on Wednesday and undergo a physical before a decision on his status is made. He's penciled in as a starter in the base defense, but the Eagles figure to play it safe considering the serious nature of his ailment. They're also plenty deep at defensive tackle with Cullen Jenkins, first-rounder Fletcher Cox, Derek Landri and Antonio Dixon.

Eagles DT Mike Patterson (brain surgery) is sitting out OTAs, but "thinks" he'll be ready by training camp. Patterson underwent January surgery to repair an anteriovenous malformation (AVM). He knows DL coach Jim Washburn's scheme already, so Patterson's absence isn't a concern. Rookie Fletcher Cox should benefit from more reps.
