The Cowboys are not expected to feature CB Mike Jenkins (probable, shoulder) in his 2012 debut. With Morris Claiborne and Brandon Carr entrenched as starters, Jenkins exact role this year remains to be seen. NFL Network's Ian Rapoport writes that the Cowboys will limit him to sub-defenses initially, as a hybrid safety/cornerback. Jenkins will enter Week 2 behind Orlando Scandrick as Dallas' primary slot corner.

Cowboys CB Mike Jenkins (shoulder) plans on playing in Sunday's game against the Seahawks. Per Jerry Jones, Jenkins has "looked really good" in the three practices he's participated in. If healthy, Jenkins would be a nickel and dime corner behind starters Morris Claiborne and Brandon Carr.

Cowboys CB Mike Jenkins (shoulder surgery) will resume practicing when first eligible on Saturday, but remains uncertain for Wednesday's opener. "Mike's back out there, raring to go, great attitude, ready to help our team," owner Jerry Jones said. "Don't know if he'll be ready to go for Wednesday night but still is going to be a valuable part of this team this year." Our guess is that Jenkins won't be ready to suit up against the Giants after missing the entire preseason, but will have a good shot at returning in Week 2.

Cowboys CB Mike Jenkins (shoulder surgery) has passed his physical and been activated from camp/PUP. He can resume practicing as soon as Saturday. While the late-camp return doesn't bode strongly for Jenkins' chances of playing in the season opener, he now has a chance to contribute early in the year. It was originally believed Jenkins might break camp on the reserve/PUP list, costing him the first six games.

Cowboys CB Mike Jenkins will take a second visit to Dr. James Andrews' office in ten days for an update on his surgically repaired shoulder. Jenkins will wind up missing all of preseason and camp, and is eligible to begin the season on PUP. No one ever traded for Jenkins because he was never healthy. "I don't know what's going to happen," Jenkins said of his next Andrews visit. "When I saw the doctor, he said four weeks. So I've got to go back to the doctor and see what he says. But I'll be 100 percent when I get back."

The Cowboys website confirms CB Mike Jenkins (shoulder surgery) is "likely" to miss the entire preseason. Jenkins won't rejoin the team before the end of training camp, and his status for the season opener versus the Giants is now in doubt. Jenkins will be a candidate for the PUP list if he doesn't regain strength in the shoulder over the next month.

Cowboys CB Mike Jenkins (shoulder surgery) wasn't cleared to resume practicing in his Monday appointment with Dr. James Andrews, and remains out indefinitely. Jenkins' odds of being cleared before the end of the preseason are now slim, while it's looking more and more likely he'll being the year on the reserve/PUP list. Were Jenkins to be placed on the PUP, the earliest he could return is Week 8. What looked like it would be a position of strength for the Cowboys in cornerback is now a question mark with both Jenkins and rookie Morris Claiborne (sprained MCL) sidelined. Claiborne's absence will supposedly be short lived.

Cowboys CB Mike Jenkins left camp on Sunday to meet with Dr. James Andrews about his troublesome right shoulder. He's expected back on Monday. Jenkins could resume practicing if he received medical clearance from Andrews, although he's also a candidate to open the season on reserve/PUP. The PUP list would cost him the first six games.

Cowboys CB Mike Jenkins (shoulder surgery) denies requesting a trade. However, he admits he's open to being dealt. "This is a business," Jenkins said. "Wherever I end up, I'm just ready to play and help that team out. I don't know if it's (Dallas). If it's anywhere else, I just have to go with it." Expected to miss the entire preseason, Jenkins will likely begin the year in Big D.
