Steelers RT Mike Adams (stab wounds) has been medically cleared for the start of training camp. Adams suffered the stab wounds during a late-May incident where he was allegedly defending himself in a robbery attempt, although the "robbers" have since claimed Adams was the aggressor. Either way, Adams was never changed with a crime and remains penned in as Pittsburgh's starting right tackle.

Coach Mike Tomlin confirmed Monday the Steelers expect RT Mike Adams (stab wounds) to make a full recovery, and he will be released from the hospital within 24 hours. On Saturday, Adams was stabbed once in the stomach and once in the left forearm during a robbery attempt outside his Pittsburgh home. "We expect a full recovery," said Tomlin. "He realizes of course how fortunate he is. We're just glad he is going to be okay, and we're just taking it day by day. They're expecting six weeks or so." Steelers training camp opens in seven-plus weeks.

Steelers OTs Mike Adams and Marcus Gilbert will compete for the starting left tackle job. Adams, the No. 56 overall pick last year, started six games at right tackle as a rookie and gave up seven sacks. Gilbert, entering his third season, also started six games at right tackle. Both players finished the season on injured reserve with ankle injuries. Free agent Max Starks isn't expected to be re-signed, and the loser of the competition will stick on the right side.

Per CBS' Jason La Canfora, Steelers RT Mike Adams (ankle) is expected to be out a "significant period of time." Adams has been diagnosed with a high ankle sprain. It's another blow to an offensive line that was already playing without normal starting RT Marcus Gilbert (ankle). Seventh-round rookie Kelvin Beachem is a candidate to step in, but newly activated first-round guard David DeCastro should give Mike Tomlin some flexibility.

Steelers RT Mike Adams will have a Monday MRI after injuring his ankle against the Browns Sunday. Per CBS' Jason La Canfora, it "does not appear" that Adams broke his ankle. Therefore, the MRI will determine the severity of his sprain. It's worth noting that Adams was in a ton of pain and had to be carted to the locker room after going down. The Steelers are already without normal RT Marcus Gilbert (ankle), so seventh-round rookie Kelvin Beachem was forced into action Sunday.

Steelers RT Mike Adams left Sunday's Week 12 game against the Browns with an ankle injury. Adams had to be helped off the field in the third quarter and was then carted to the locker room. It's a major concern for an offensive line that lost starting LG Willie Colon (knee) in pregame. Seventh-round rookie Kelvin Beachum has come on at right tackle.
