Giants rookie RB Michael Cox says the coaching staff has informed him he will play in Week 7 against the Vikings. Cox is worth grabbing in 14- and 16-team leagues, and should've been rostered in all Dynasty settings weeks ago. He flashed plus burst and lateral movement in the preseason. Still, don't expect a significant Week 7 workload. "There are some things that I think right now we feel good about," coach Tom Coughlin said regarding Cox. "There are other things not so [good]." The Giants don't know yet whether Cox can adequately protect Eli Manning.

Michael Cox was the only Giants running back practicing Monday. The Giants played the Thursday night game in Week 6, so they held a light workout Monday. David Wilson (neck) was getting a second opinion, Da'Rel Scott (hamstring) is out multiple weeks, Andre Brown (leg) isn't eligible to play until Week 10 and Brandon Jacobs took a rest day after his fluky eruption against the Bears. The Giants don't think Cox is ready to play, but they might be forced into using him as a change-of-pace back behind Jacobs in Week 7.

ESPN New York suggests seventh-round pick Michael Cox will handle kickoff returns for the Giants this year. David Wilson is expected to be used on kick returns situationally, but definitely won't do it full time because he's going to be a backfield workhorse. Cox was highly impressive in preseason games, showing pass-catching ability and lateral agility as a runner. He's worth rostering in deep Dynasty leagues.

According to the Newark Star-Ledger, Giants seventh-round RB Michael Cox has shown "dazzling and explosive" running skills in training camp. "He's done some nice things," said coach Tom Coughlin. Cox ran forty times of 4.58 and 4.63 before the draft, at 6-foot and 220 pounds. He only rushed for 715 yards as a senior at UMass, but the Minutemen went 1-11. Cox is a candidate for No. 3 tailback duties, competing with Da'Rel Scott and Ryan Torain.

Giants agreed to terms with No. 253 overall pick RB Michael Cox on a four-year contract. The second to last pick of the draft, Cox has a power-back pedigree the Giants can fall back on if injury-prone runner Andre Brown can't survive camp unscathed. Cox's most likely home is the practice squad.
