Jones-Drew announced on his personal twitter account that he is retiring from the NFL. A second-round draft pick of the Jaguars in 2006, Jones-Drew spent much of his career trying to put lousy teams on his back. While his only playoff appearance came in 2007, he was unquestionably one of the NFL's top running backs from 2009 to 2011, when he topped 1,300 rushing yards and 300 receiving yards in three consecutive seasons. Injuries contributed to a fairly quick drop-off, and MJD managed just 96 yards on 43 carries for the Raiders in 2014. He didn't have the necessary longevity to make a case for the Hall of Fame, but he'll always be popular among fantasy owners, as he was one of the first NFL players to openly embrace fantasy football. He has even dabbled in the world of fantasy analysis, and it wouldn't be surprising to see him land a media gig in the coming years. As for the Raiders, Latavius Murray is the current favorite to head the team's backfield in 2015.

Jones-Drew rushed for just 96 yards on 43 attempts, and caught 11 passes on 16 targets for 71 yards, in 12 games in 2014. Jones-Drew's first season in Oakland was nothing short of a disaster, as he failed to find pay dirt for the first time in nine professional seasons and averaged a mere 2.2 yards per carry. He didn't touch the ball in the Raiders' final two games, as Latavius Murray's emergence pushed Jones-Drew down to third on the depth chart. While he still has two years remaining on his contract, Jones-Drew turned 30 in March and could find himself on the roster bubble come summer.

Jones-Drew did not touch the ball during Sunday's 24-13 win over the 49ers. Latavius Murray dominated the workload out of the backfield, attempting 23 of the Raiders' 31 rushes. Jones-Drew, meanwhile, barely saw the field, and is still sitting on just a 2.2 YPC average and zero touchdowns for the season. Expect the 29-year-old to remain an afterthought in the offense over the final three weeks.

Jones-Drew had five carries for 21 rushing yards and caught three passes on four targets for 23 receiving yards Sunday against the Rams. With Latavius Murray out with a concussion, Darren McFadden once again led the backfield, rushing 11 times for only 27 yards. While Jones-Drew outperformed McFadden on a yards-per-carry basis, there is still very limited upside for the former, especially when Murray returns.

Jones-Drew, Darren McFadden and Marcel Reece are all expected to see work Sunday against St. Louis with Latavius Murray (concussion) ruled out, the San Jose Mercury News reports. Jones-Drew has averaged a mere 1.9 yards per carry on 36 attempts so far this season, with a long run of six yards over his last six games. Interim coach Tony Sparano said the carries will be doled out based on the flow of the game and the situation, but it seems likely Jones-Drew will be third in the pecking order behind Reece and McFadden.

Jones-Drew had three carries for 10 yards and caught his lone target for seven yards in Sunday's 41-17 loss to the Broncos. The Raiders were competitive in the first half, but neither Darren McFadden nor Jones-Drew did much on the ground. McFadden finished with 14 yards on seven carries, to record his second straight ugly performance, but despite McFadden's recent poor play, it doesn't appear as though Jones-Drew will get an opportunity for more work. Next week, Jones-Drew will face the Chargers on the road.

Jones-Drew lost two yards on two carries and had a reception for 11 yards in Sunday's loss at Seattle. Meanwhile, Darren McFadden once again shouldered most of the load, rushing for 20 yards on 13 carries. At this point, there doesn't seem to be a lot of hope for Jones-Drew, outside of an injury to McFadden.

Jones-Drew totaled just eight yards on six carries in Sunday's 23-13 loss to the Browns. He added one catch on two targets for six yards. True to his word, interim coach Tony Sparano gave Jones-Drew some additional opportunities -- the six carries were his most since Week 1 -- but the 29-year-old struggled mightily against what was the worst-ranked run defense in the league coming into the week. Jones-Drew didn't endear himself to the coaching staff with this performance, making it unlikely he'll take on an even greater role next week, so it's probably time to cut bait for most remaining fantasy owners.

The Raiders would like to get Jones-Drew more involved, CSNBayArea.com reports. "We need to get [Jones-Drew] more snaps," interim coach Tony Sparano said. "I think the plan is to try to get him involved a little bit more if we can do that now. One of the things we have to do is in order to get people more snaps, we have to play more snaps." Sparano said something similar earlier this month, but Jones-Drew has touched the ball just eight times in two games since. Thus, it's hard to know how much to read into these comments, but it does sound like the team would, ideally, get Jones-Drew some more reps as a way to keep Darren McFadden fresh and perhaps spark its last-ranked rushing offense. McFadden is likely to continue seeing the bulk of the work.

Jones-Drew had just three carries for six yards in Sunday's loss to Arizona. He was not targeted as a pass catcher. Jones-Drew has clearly fallen to No. 2 in the Raiders' backfield, as Darren McFadden had 14 carries for 48 yards and a touchdown. Thus, it's going to take an injury or an extended period of poor play from McFadden for Jones-Drew to get a heavy workload.
