Bears SS Major Wright suffered a hamstring injury in Friday's practice and is questionable for Week 13.
The Bears went so far as to promote SS Sean Cattouse from the practice squad, indicating concern over Wright's Week 13 availability. Wright has been an IDP stud this year with 76 tackles and four turnovers forced.

Bears SS Major Wright's 2013 salary jumped from $575,000 to $1.323 million based on rookie-deal incentives.
Wright started all 16 games in 2012 and was a key part of Chicago's turnover-forcing defensive backfield. He set new career-highs in tackles (71), passes defensed (eight), and interceptions (four), while also scoring a touchdown. Wright enters the final year of his rookie deal and could be a candidate for extension. The Bears defense shouldn't change too much under new DC Mel Tucker.

There have been only two completions of 30 or more yards against the Bears defense over the first six games.
Bears cornerback Charles Tillman credits the improved play of safeties Chris Conte and Major Wright and the work of the coaching staff for all but eliminating the busted coverages that previously plagued the defense. "Just talking from a safety standpoint, Major Wright and Chris Conte have done a phenomenal job of not giving up the big plays and letting guys get behind them like they did last year," Tillman said. So far this season, Pro Football Focus has Wright as a top-10 safety.

The Bears have ruled out SS Major Wright (shoulder) for Week 14.
Craig Steltz will get the start against Denver and will probably spend the entire day in the box, making him an intriguing one-game IDP sleeper. Chris Conte has been the Bears' starting free safety. Brandon Meriweather is No. 3.

Bears FS Major Wright has been diagnosed with a "stiff neck," not a concussion.
Wright's status for Week 3 is uncertain. His injury could be the impetus for the Bears to officially move Brandon Meriweather into the starting lineup opposite SS Chris Harris.

As expected, Major Wright has been moved into the Bears' starting lineup at strong safety, bookending FS Chris Harris.
"He's an -excellent tackler," observed DC Rod Marinelli. "He's got good ball skills. Plays in space well. Usually that second year in our system is when guys make a big step." Danieal Manning racked up seven pass breakups, 72 tackles, and one interception at the position last year, but Wright is a more physical player. He may be a slight downgrade in terms of coverage.
