One independent orthopedic surgeon believes Cardinals LT Levi Brown (torn right triceps) will be "right on the margin" to return this season. Brown suffered a triceps avulsion, ripping away a fragment of the bone. "An avulsion is quite serious," said Dr. Orr Limpisvasti, based in Los Angeles. "It often takes longer (than three months) for the tissue to heal, and you can't strengthen that tissue while it heals. Sometimes it will take 3-6 months. ... At 80 percent healed, 70 percent healed, what is the risk of getting him back too early?"

Cardinals LT Levi Brown told teammates on the field that he "heard something" when he went down with what appeared to be a serious right triceps injury Friday night. Brown is no world-beater as a pass protector, but this is a major concern considering the Cardinals have the NFL's shabbiest collection of tackles. "It's not like you can call 1-800-Left-Tackle," quipped center Lyle Sendlein. "We're just hoping everything is alright." Larry Fitzgerald may have one of the highest floors among fantasy receivers, but his ceiling is starting to show cracks.

Cardinals LT Levi Brown was forced from Friday's preseason game against the Raiders with a right triceps injury. Brown's return is officially "doubtful," but his night is through. Although Brown has long been one of the league's most maligned left tackles, it would be a crushing blow for the Cardinals' embattled offense if his triceps is torn. A tear would almost certainly cost Brown the season. Beset by protection issues, Arizona could be in the market for line help regardless of the severity of Brown's injury.

The Cardinals can get out of LT Levi Brown's new five-year contract after this season without owing him anymore money. Brown received $8 million in guarantees, though they are all paid in the first season ($7 million signing bonus + $1 million base salary). No portion of Brown's $4.75 million base salary in 2013 is guaranteed. The Cards would also only take an $850,000 salary cap hit to release him next offseason. The "five-year, $30 million contract" was really just a one-year, $8 million deal.

Recently re-signed OT Levi Brown expects to remain the Cardinals' starting left tackle in 2012. However, the perennial underachiever also admitted he needs to "prove what I am capable of and set the record straight." There's been talk the No. 5 overall pick of the 2007 draft will be shifted to right tackle, but unless the Cardinals are able to find an upgrade in the draft, they'll likely be stuck with Brown on the blindside.

Cardinals re-signed LT Levi Brown to a five-year contract. Brown was a free agent for all of three days. Released Monday to avoid an unreasonable $17 million cap hit, one of the league's most underachieving tackles might get another shot to man the blindside in Arizona. However, the Arizona Republic has reported he could be shifted to right tackle. That would require finding an upgrade in free agency or the draft, but could be viewed as a necessity since Brown has consistently been one of the league's worst lineman since being the fifth overall pick of the 2007 draft. He's still only 27 years old.

The Cardinals are "close" to re-signing LT Levi Brown. The Arizona Republic's Kent Somers reports Brown could be shifted to right tackle, but that would be contingent on the Cardinals finding a viable alternative at left tackle. It's unlikely in a very thin free agent tackle market.

Cardinals released LT Levi Brown. Brown was set to count a gargantuan $17 million against the cap during the final year of his rookie deal. The move clears roughly $14.5 million in cap space. The fifth overall pick of the 2007 draft, Brown has started all 16 games each of the past four seasons, but routinely graded out as one of the league's worst tackles. He's joining a free agent market exceptionally thin on experienced tackles, however, and could very easily land starter's money.
