Guy will never be dominant as a pass rusher, but his strong work against the run makes him far more valuable than the contract suggests.

Entering his seventh season, the 26-year-old could slot in as a defensive end opposite Trey Flowers or could see time in a defensive tackle rotation as well moving from a 3-4 to a 4-3 scheme.

Guy was waived by the Chargers on Tuesday, Eric Williams of ESPN.com reports. Guy appeared in 10 games with the Chargers last season, but he did not play in any games during the current campaign. He figures to garner a look from teams looking for defensive line help.

Guy had to leave Thursday's game with a shoulder injury and is questionable to return, U-T San Diego reports. It's unlikely that Guy will return to the field since the Chargers will need his services throughout the long haul of the regular season. He's currently in line to provide depth behind the defensive line starters.
