Patriots re-signed CB Kyle Arrington to a four-year contract.
With the Pats yet to re-sign Aqib Talib or find a viable replacement, they've re-upped a key piece of depth. Arrington has started at least 12 games each of the past three seasons, but struggled mightily in 2012 before being demoted to nickel back. He is one of the NFL's premier slot corners, but the Pats don't want to enter 2013 with Arrington on the outside. Considering the way the cornerback market has collapsed, Talib should be back soon enough.

Free agent CB Kyle Arrington hopes to re-sign with the Patriots, but says his agent fielded "several" inquiries on Saturday.
"I started something four years ago in New England I think both sides would definitely love to see through," Arrington said Saturday. The Pats are actively scouring the loaded cornerback market, and appear to have Arrington on the back-burner. Arrington could end up returning at a team-friendly price after the first wave of free agency is through.

ESPN Boston suspects free agent CB Kyle Arrington will get more money on the open market than the Patriots are willing to give him.
Arrington tumbled down the depth chart last season, settling in as the nickel back in the second half of the year and struggling. The Patriots are thin at corner, but they'll likely make re-signing Aqib Talib a priority. Arrington is our No. 18 corner available in free agency.

Sources tell the Boston Herald the Patriots will meet with free agent CB Kyle Arrington's rep at the Combine.
It's the sides' first known meeting. Each has expressed a desire to get a new deal done. With CB Alfonzo Dennard facing possible jail time, preventing Arrington from reaching the open market may have taken on an added urgency.

Patriots RCB Kyle Arrington was benched in favor of rookie Alfonzo Dennard in the first quarter of Week 6.
He was benched after allowing Doug Baldwin's 50-yard and 24-yard catches, the latter for a TD. Arrington was reinserted with New England's nickel package and figures to keep his job, but he's got to play better. On the season, Arrington has two pass breakups and no interceptions after leading the NFL with seven in 2011.

In addition to leading the NFL with seven interceptions in 2011, Patriots CB Kyle Arrington was charged with only three missed tackles in 930 defensive snaps.
A former undrafted free agent out of Hofstra, whose football program recently went under, Arrington more than rewarded the Pats for the two-year, $1.8 million extension they signed him to last July. His tackle efficiency as fifth best in the NFL, and Arrington also led the club with 13 pass breakups.

Patriots CB Kyle Arrington earned a playing-time incentive of $1 million, bringing his 2012 salary to $1.85 million.
It's fitting that the former undrafted free agent out of Hofstra emerged as the Patriots' top corner in 2011, leading the NFL with seven picks while recording 88 tackles. After topping all Pats defensive backs in snaps, Arrington should enter 2012 as a starter.

Patriots CB Kyle Arrington briefly left Monday's game against the Chiefs due to a right arm injury, but returned and managed to snag two interceptions.
He now leads the NFL with seven interceptions, and is the only person keeping the Patriots secondary from becoming a practice squad All Star team.
